I'm forever impressed that all of Julia's shows were on live TV. Everything was "what you see is what you get." No editing Just pure "here you go, folks!" Love it!!!

This video used to be on KZbin and disappeared, and I’ve waited years to hear Julia sing “petite fondue frites” at 0:10 again. Thank you!

I owe Julia a great debt of gratitude. Being raised by soutjern country grandparents and a southern country mom who cooked southern country foods, she opened my eyes to a wider range of recipes. I would hurry into the house every Saturday afternoon when it was time for 1 of her shows to come on PBS and shut the bedroom door so I could focus on the days episode. Now I have the pleasure of enjoying cooking with my daughter and granddaughter & trying new things all because of Julia.

French Recipes. She trained in France and brought her Cordon Bleu French Cuisine training to the mid Americas continent. (Zinfandel aside)

Julia always calmed me down when I was a nervous, hyper, insecure young teen. Miss her greatly.

Same here! Martha Stewart had that quality for me as well. Julia and Martha are both great teachers, they make me want to learn more about what they're discussing.

So calm and relaxing, unlike so many type-A/high stress kitchens in numerous restaurants. Don't be fooled like I was that the culinary field is much like this. She's really demonstrating meals to cook at home in your own time (where you can experiment and make mistakes). I went to culinary school and immediately noticed how rude and stressed out people were, which was quite depressing. Thankfully I kept up my cooking at home and I still enjoy it. 😊

😊 Not meaning it the least bit rude but much more to compliment the food but it seemed to me when sweet Julia cut open the deep fried ball she was literally ' drooling' to try it. Mouth watering delicious I'm sure ❤ The statement she says about the cellar was definitely from the 60's or maybe 70s in the day before basements became finished living spaces and were still often times built with large rocks sometimes mortared together or dry fit with dirt or cement floors or maybe in 'modern ' homes they were cinder blocks or bricks. This was likely (except for wealthy or gourmet people before the time when atmosphere controlled appliances like a fridge or very expensive thermostat controlled wine cellars were common. The comment about them being too cold maybe referred to unheated & perhaps drafts from coal shoots or ill-fitting windows caused things to occasionally freeze in winter in northern areas. 😊❤❤
