Ok....ok....ok.... due to popular demand, here's my thoughts on Sinfall Medallion. It may not be flashy... it may not be super stats... but it's FREE MMR. The real question is whether your mid-roll can outpressure the lobby or whether someone slips through and pounds you into the dirt.

If the goal is to do damage, why not go to tier 3? You can still have 2 minions of each tier, and leave a cycling slot. No scaling is lost, and you get to do 3-5 more damage due to the higher tiers. (nvm, saw a different comment with the same question. Leaving the comment for the algorithm though)

Never seen a strat like this, it was really interesting watching you play! One question I have is why do you keep using the tier 2 dragon to buff the drake instead of the divine shield dragon?

early losses are going to be nearly entirely due to poison and we only care about early/mid game. With trickster on the board, having bigger non-taunts is a huge advantage, as you're leaving a much bigger minion protected from poison. The shield is pretty mid in this lobby vs token strats.

Since you were playing Galakrond, you technically had the option to keep one spot on your board as whatever 6 star you can heropower into, and just pocket it way in the back, in case you want to make sure you always deal the max damage. But you did play kinda gold efficient to never have that extra 1 gold for it. Was there a reason you didn't consider that? It would be a card that is not gaining stats, but it would boost the strategy you are going for, dealing max damage early, granted it survives.

it's pretty tough to play cards efficiently and never roll to upgrade a card in tavern multiple times. And if it's not a mantid its probably not worth the slot. Logistically it's a nightmare to get ahold of (you can't roll for multiple turns) and the likelihood it pays off is low.

@@bofur My bad, I forgot you have to target a minion in the tavern with it, I was thinking you would target one of your own minions to level it up over the course of the game. So yeah it does make sense why you didn't do it when you actually remember what the power does.

Why not go tier 3 and have your board be 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, with a cycle slot? Wouldnt that make every card in the shop playable for a 2 card buff? Less rolling more buffing, correct?

You could be spreading yourself too thin. Maybe in mech lobbies as they have strong 3s like deflecto but in this lobby most lf the economy is on 1 and 2 so going to 3 would only dilute the minion pool and lose you tempo.

it's going to be way less power on average. You dilute the pool, create no real added benenfit with 3-star effects, and then reduce the prevalence of econ minions. The biggest reason, though, is that you'll never want to drop even a 20/20 minion to start building up 2 3-stars. You just let people stay alive longer and you gain practically nothing. edit: It's mostly a tribe-logic reason here. There's no incentive to push up a tier, since the quality of minion doesn't increase and you'll lose power on average. This logic definitely changes with elementals in.

I did that exact build earlier today, it was an easy 2nd but would never have gotten first, and the only reason 2nd was so easy was because I ran all mechs, 6 divine shield minions total.

I would have thought in this game one you had the shield drake and glad making the move to 3 would have been nice since you weren't using 1s at that point

This is reminiscent of the old Tavern 1 strats which were fun once and then the most boring thing in the game afterwards. Really weird choice by Blizzard to have that in the game. IMO Sinfall could be an interesting reward if it scaled with the tiers of minions, like maybe buffing all same tier minions based on their tier so you wanna try to balance minion rarity with proc power. Something in that direction could give the reward way more agency I think while preserving the option of tempo lines.

same board just bigger. Will you win a lot of games? Not really. But you'll get a 1.7 average (or w/e) instead of a 1.9 on a generic hero. He'd really like the strat w/ ele's in though. But you'll just have to adapt and go 3 once its cheap and get recycling.

Why level... Because you can do 35 mph instead of 30? Doing 15 dmg might end the game a little faster than doing 11-13. Get 1 extra dmg from level. Maybe an extra 1 or 2 from buying a 3 star. Or galakronding it into a 4 star

but u won't do 15 damage by leveling. You'll, on average, do less damage. You're not going to keep 7 minions alive and cycle enough useful 3's to use them anyway. It's 100% bait in this lobby. Add in recycling wraith to the pool, though... and it's up to 3 immediately.

Specifically... turn 11. Up against dragons 9 health, you hit them for 7. Levelling and cycling a 3 star leaving it on the board would have cost about 16/16 in stats.. but would have killed them. And if theres anyone you know you cant outscale with sinfall, its dragons.

you're getting really results oriented with this analysis. For every instance that 1-2 damage could matter here, there's instances where you cost yourself 1-2 damage playing for later value. It's just not better on average from each position we were given, so it's a negative play.... even if there are discrete outcomes where a greedier line would be better.
