The Holdsworth story... I got this from the man himself, and after reviewing some of the comments below I thought I'd share. 1 - There is no truth to Holdsworth and King not getting along. 2 - Holdsworth filled in because he was good friends with guitarist Alan Murphy who died unexpectedly in 1989, and also because he was friends with Gary Husband after years of working together (they are still working together). 3 - Holdsworth had a thriving solo career at the time, so Mark King assumed he wouldn't be interested in the job long term. Meanwhile, Holdsworth quite enjoyed himself and actually would have been open to the idea. However both of them failed to communicate this to each other until several years later.

Thanks. It was great that they worked together but sad that it was not for longer. The King-Lindup-Husband-Holdsworth lineup was very strong!

What a great lineup this was. Holdsworth on gtr. An absolute master. If there is a better pop band around with that level of musicianship please tell me.

At least the world best guitarist was there giving his precious solos. We finally know how Allan's approach on jazz funk music. RIP Allan, you'll be missed. ❤️❤️❤️

You can see in the video Mark King was clearly copping all of Lemmy's bass licks. The Chinese Way is a total Ace of Spades rip off.
