I think one of the big problems with cannibals in SOTF is they're everywhere to the point you get numb to them. In the first game you wouldn't see them as much but could still feel their presence. They felt more like a primal, tribal threat than angry, violent neighbors. If they were more reclusive and had more of a stalking aspect rather than a pesky war party, I feel they wouldn't be as aggravating and might even start being scary again.

I reckon you hit the nail on the head there......Cannibal abundancy = Cannibal redundancy!! I get its a much bigger Island therefore more tribes, but I feel that if you kill a shit load of them there should be less of them for a good while,....a cool down period. There are countless villages if players want plenty of native slaughtering. Also the cannibal types & Hierarchy seems to be the same all over the island, I think having more regionalised cannibal types would give the player a better choice of where to build, say an area with more muddies and less acrobatic cirque Du Soleil female athletes, and seven foot tanks!! And why must they all be Cannibals?, the Island is full of food!! 🙂

Maybe Endnight want you to use all the C4 for bombs to kill those many enemies in tight spaces? Caves are basically acting like a ressource drain at this point. Strongly agree with the modding tools, they would open the game up to so much more content. Are there any other games you enjoy playing at the moment? Because I really don't want you to end your YT career over this :P

I like the The Forest more it's like a horror game the canibals they screeching and shouting when they are about to approach your base, I think they focus too much on building mechanics and traps. maybe they add: - add Wild Wolfs and Bears (Canibal they have wolfs and attack you or you can own it as a pet and they can attack the canibal too) - Add that you call Verginia and Kevin when you needed them like call them or some sort of signal them to come where you at. - Improve path finding Kevin and Vernigia being stocked - add Work bench that you can craft more weapons that have durability - add Canibal raid Day and night raids - add Alarm for raids - add automatic turret bow to defend your base -add canibal that can be friend you command them like Kevin or Virginia to defend or help to gather things

Just need Kelvin to have a stack function for lumber and stones. That way you could amass building supplies. Oh and they should add burlap sack or seabag for Kelvin to carry skulls and bones, etc. And Virginia should be able to hunt deer. They also need a recluse in the mountains from the lab that gives you notes on how to clone Kevin as well as do other interesting things. Oh, and Kelvin needs his limit on gathering lumber and stones up to 200 meters.

Honestly i agree with you with the caves. They should make it impossible to just run past, but significantly lower the enemy count or make them easier to fight. It's insane how they survive like 30 arrow headshots, and it's just not at all enjoyable when you know you are going to die than when you know you can do it with armor. Because then, you could farm stuff and prepare for battle and have an enjoyable time. It was actually more fun entering the ropegun cave from the back and parkouring up the wall with birdhouses and instantly get the rope gun while only avoiding 2 twins 😂

i feel like they had the idea of kelvin being the helpful lil guy and then virginia being the combat companion because kelvin is silent and slow but virginia is fast and vocal. i just wish both of them had better pathing ai, or maybe even a self unstuck feature where when they are caught walking in place they tp like a foot forward, and that virginia was more active with her guns. like bruh she has ZERO confidence in comparison to her backstory and the fact that she can hold and shoot 2 guns at the same time against essentially unarmed natives....

Caves are so messed up. I agree with you. I mean there is 4 fingers, 10 blindies in a cave I just entred. How do you expect me to fight with all of them in the pitch darkness and shallow places? In the forest maximum there are 4-5 guys in a cave.

I agree with most of your criticisms but, and I hate to say this because you were great in The Forest, but you are BAD at SOTF. For example; why are you even using ziplines? you should be gliding everywhere. You made a comment that you 'needed to get stuff along the way' so you avoided the glider, but did you know you can get anywhere on the map with the glider, and you only need a player's height-of-space in order to gain sufficient air? By my third playthrough I was jumping off small rocks on the beach and getting enough air to get anywhere in the game. I only use zipline hubs for resource gathering or getting from base to water supply. Also those overwhelming fights are designed to exhaust your explosive & ammo supplies, or at least that's what I tell myself

in terms of the old flags vs the new markers i think if you look at that as the start of the animation issue it almost seems intentional JUST to fuck over the player. you used to be able to open your book, place a flag bp, and build it in like 2 seconds flat all out of danger. but with the new marker you have to open youre inv, grab a stick in hand, place it into the ground, open your inv again, grab some rocks, place them on the stick, open your inv AGAIN, grab a marker which is at the top of the inv IN A BOX THAT HAS TO DO AN ANIMATION TO OPEN, place it on the stick AFTER SELECTING THE ICON YOU WANT, and all of this EVERY SINGLE STEP is an animation you cant cancel and can be hurt in. it feels sooooo deliberate when you take it all into account when thinking about other animations and issues they pose

@@hurmzz I think it has been showed that the game has is very clear shortcomings and skill is not everything, you can be the best at something that doesn't work and still lose pretty easily. It has toi work on a fundamental level, I hoesnt couldn't get into this game either it just felt really off, would need more time with it to explain why but eh, man has a series to finish and ios giving a single perspective on this playthrough. You can also watch other channels for a diferent point of view if the negative view of the game bothers you.

As someone who never played the forest and started with SOFT, the game just made me not wanting to play it, from the massive map which makes you hate going anywhere to the terrible building system and the hard enemies, to time wasted just looking at animations of anything, to what finally made me stop playing 20 hours in, is that dying twice in a short time ends the game and makes you need to load the last saved file you had wasting hours of work, and no i don't want to waste my remaining brain power to keep remembering to save.

I could not disagree more. The map is huge but there are ways to make it smaller, like the glider for example. Building system is far from terrible, if you utilize Kelvin it's a lot more smooth and it also gives you resources passively when you are out exploring. Enemies are not hard. You just need to learn their patterns. I just did a playthrough on hardest customer settings with only melee. Not a problem. So the last point is you not saving the game? So... like every other game then?

@@Adepth7gliding doesn’t make the map smaller, it makes you faster. the glider is the most cheese way to play this game imo. the building system IS terrible. it constantly glitches, or doesn’t allow you to do things you can do at other times, like raise a log, or make handrails above two stories. utilizing kelvin is cool, until you realize passive resources from him are impossible since if you stray away, he won’t keep gathering, and if you stray too too far, he will die to either cannibals or mutants you’ll never even see

@@Adepth7enemies aren’t HARD, they’re cheese. blocking is useless, you’re way better off doing a hit and run play style, which once you master just feels like cheating. it’s not fun to melee, backup for 4 seconds while their animation plays, then melee again at all. i don’t get why people like this combat in the slightest, especially when ALL cannibals can hit you from behind them because their attacks are a circular radial hitbox, for zero reason… people don’t constantly save the game because it makes a marker on your map, and it’s extremely tedious to watch 30 second animations of building some shitty tarp hut over and over again prior to entering or exiting and point of interest or cave. the game is simply flawed and not objectively consistent, yet people like you praise that for some reason!

@@Adepth7 About the saving, no the saving itself but the game ends if you die twice in a row fast, if you did not save for a couple of hours you would be frustrated a lot. Give me an option to always respawn.

Been watching you since The Forest. I played this game since day one in early access almost every day. Then I quit playing like 2 months before full release. Then after full release I pretty much quit again. Seems like you have burnout on this game. I'm a builder mostly and I got burned out. I had seen you played Grounded a year or two ago. It's full release now and actually pretty good. I started it when it came to Playstation a couple months ago. Maybe go back to that game till they hopefully fix and add more stuff to this game? It has way more replayability.

The mobs suck in this game bcuz the armor blocks EVERYTHING....and theyre EVERYWHERE EVERY 5 SECONDS... you cant build for 5 minutes without them just spawning in where they shouldnt be, and just ruining your train of thought an your walls also its better to trap them instead of fight for that reason, its not worth the melee like in the first one... sadly they did a little TOO MUCH in this version an tried to make it to complex but instead just took the fun out that the first one had, MKnight, FIX THE GAME PLZ... It would be nice to have an open modding community like skyrim... idk, i feel like its missing somthing major,i enjoyed the first one WAY more

way too many cannibal spawns in this game, not nearly enough variety in tribes or types. they put 9 enemies in a single WAY TOO CONFINED room and expect you to be fine. the caves are so dark i can’t see shit, walk in circles for an hour. there is so much wrong with this game i genuinely don’t get why they gave up. the story doesn’t feel good, the cutscenes are garbage, over 50% of the artwork and book covers in the game is AI, it’s just awful bro. they have somehow LESS wildlife than the first game, i just cannot get over that. no more gators, no bears in this giant forest, barely any variety in birds, or squirrels, or really any animals. reflections are awful yet yank my frames down from 120 to 80, and there’s so much more to complain about
