To be honest, I did this once at McDonalds. Dropped a whole bag of crispy chicken on the floor, went "fuck it," picked up the six of them and threw them in the fryer. Sometimes kitchens do shady shit when no one is looking, the kind of "what you don't know won't hurt you" logic. But they know they're breaking the rules, they know they should wash their hands after a certain point, they know the risk of contamination and cross contamination, they don't forget that. But when you have Gordon motherfucking Ramsay, or any person really, literally see you pick up food off of the floor.
