There's too much pride/ego involved in all parties. While it's easy to point at the "owners", David also needs to check himself. He may cook well but clearly, under pressure during the rush, was getting food sent back consistently. From the outset, this was clearly multiple powder kegs waiting to go off and it looks like they all did at once. The dysfunction on display here is absolutely insane.

Denial is an incredibly powerful state of mind, it is terrifyingly simple in that it is simple rooted in ego. No reason, rationalized threat or consequence. Many people can’t accept they are wrong, especially parents - they see their good as all encompassing their child’s. Having said that the producers will coax out or set up people’s responses, again it’s incredibly easy to get a response from someone when a stick a camera in their face and ask the right set of questions.

The subject of Alan's father is hilarious when you actually look into it. Abe Saffron, his father, was considered as one of the most malicious Australian criminals, who ran prostitution rings and smuggled illegal goods. He finally got convicted for tax evasion in the 80s, but many suspect that he was involved in other fun things (such as a disappearance and an arson attack). The only legal thing that he was known for was his nightclubs, but even those were quite shady.

@floraflowers
@floraflowers 2 жыл бұрын
@@justkarmabehindyourdoor7117 He did. His father was a big crime boss in Australia, often named one of the most if not THE most influential person in organized crime to the point where his worth was valued up to $140 million. When he died, he left his last mistress a lifetime annuity of $1000/week as well as a few apartments and a daughter from a former mistress was to receive the same amount in annuity as well as propriety. He left his grandchildren (5 of which are Alan's) $1 million EACH. What did Alan get? $500k. There was definitely a rift between them and something must have happened as to why he left that daughter with a lifetime of monetary support AND apartments but his son with "only" 500k bucks. But I would take everything that Alan wrote in his book with a grain of salt, at this point I'm sure that one of the reasons he wrote it was rather out of spite because he didn't inherit as much money as the others more than just to expose the abuse and crimes of his father.

Though it doesn't answer how he served raw burger twice though. He could argue he has no love for serving someone else's recipe but can be more passionate & caring with his own food. However he even cooks his own burger wrong, note Gordon confirm it was medium not medium rare & most of those coming back on the eve are because they aren't cooked right. I expect that burger he made himself was pretty meh but it suited the show narrative for it to be a "9/10"

@@pearl_skz even so when he cooked his own burger he still cooked it wrong. Ramsey wanted a medium rare, he gave him a medium. Ramsey brushes that off as it's in the interest of the show but most of the problems with food returning that night are due to how the burgers are cooked. And even if they aren't his recipes there is no excuse for sending raw food out. It's just the show glosses over his failings as the narrative is about the owners & it suits to have him a good guy

I think the reason David lashed out at Danny was because he just had so much built up frustration, and it's a shame because Danny is a very capable expeditor and manager and David is a good chef, it's really Gen and Allan's attitude that likely caused them both to just bottle up their anger, and this was the last straw for both of them

Probably when they first opened, were busy he liked the status, the giving staff orders & looked like a good investment. But when the place started to fail the way he got dragged into it became alot more sharp. You can imagine the dad not understanding this change, remembering his son enjoying those early days.

@@christophermcmanus5103 I HIGHLY doubt that. The restaurant was open for just 16 months, and during this time, he had 20+ menu changes and 10+ chefs and servers. He opened with 250 grand of his own, and then took his own son's cash. I'd say his restaurant was trash from the start due to the crap patties and frozen meat pies. @@AbRas644 look them up online. The father & son did a radio interview & local newspaper article just after the opening talking about the restaurant and their future plans to open other outlets. When you first open things like this money flows in that first month (esp in a prime location like that) & the son probably saw himself getting returns & then some. It could be he was opposed at the start but then why take part in the radio interview?
