Does campfire cooking have to be boring and plain? No! You can cook like a gourmet chef out in the wilderness if you want to and eat like a king. Here, we have some rare Bineshii rice covered in a shrimp sauce with crab meat. All over a fire on a homemade grill! #campfire #campfire_cooking #campfirecooking

I was so thrilled this morning when I saw the notification for Chef Dave. I’m home recovering from surgery and I’m bored out of my tree so when I saw that and it was going to be a fancy meal in the bush. I knew I was in for a treat. I thought there was going to be some déjà vue with the butter but the gourmet meal was a success. Thanks Dave and Nick I enjoyed this.

Another Chef Dave's dish to try! ChisandAmanda " the happiest couple on Earth", may you have many years together. Tell each other every chance you get how much you love each other and how special the other is to you. You never know when your last chance will be. I recently lost my wife of 43 years in an unexpected accident. I wish I had another hour with her so I could tell her again. Cook this dish with each other and make it special. Don't mean to be a downer, so I'll finish bawling and let Dave and Nick make me smile. Best wishes.

@@Reallybigmonkey1 thanks for sharing a window into your world. It’s been fun to see your relationship with Nick grow as I’ve raised my own boys. It’s one heck of a crazy ride, parenting. I still use many of the things I’ve learned from you and taught some to my kids. I still can’t do a hand drill worth a darn but have turned flint and steel into my favorite fire starting method. I just ran across an old pill bottle with alcohol and wood chunks from a very old winter video where you used it to heat up your coffee, classic Dave ingenuity. Thanks again!

YUMMYYYYYYYYY! That looks so good. I think it would be awesome with just adding shrimp as well. (from not so much of a crab fan, lol) Should you ever decide to make this again, I would humbly like to suggest a couple of tips. When boiling the rice, add the salt to the water with just the rice and cook until it is the tenderness you like. Drain off the water and then add your butter and spices to the rice to keep that buttery goodness, before you add the sauce. 😊 A fact that I learned, wild rice contains small amounts of arsenic. Adding onions or garlic helps the body detoxify the arsenic from your system! As always, Blessings to you and Thanks.💜 Just Granny

Thanks Granny! We are glad you liked it. Ill definitely try shrimp next time, the crab meat was too shredded to have much flavor. I was going by the wild rice cookbook but what you said made sense. Too bad Nick hates onions, thats the only reason why I left them out. Thanks for watching and blessings to you too Granny!

I ran kitchens for most of my life, and ordinarily when you have a cooking video, I find myself yelling at the computer "YOUR FIRE IS WAY TO HOT DAVE!!" However, this time you accomplished a perfect simmer and did it just right. Congratulations on a delicious looking recipe!
@Reallybigmonkey1
@Reallybigmonkey1 Жыл бұрын
Kinda hard to judge on these fires. For a lot of water you'll want flames to preheat the pot. Then as it dies down to coals you can cook. If theres not enough coals or they burn too fast you gotta add wood which creates more flames you don't want! It's a very tricky situation when using wood for fuel. Thanks for watching my friend

I always believed that eating on a camp trip should equal or exceed what one has @home, quality wise. Hello, Dave and Nick. Thanks for the recipe, it looks really good! I love shrimp especially. I can eat it til it comes out of my ears 😆 Didn't even know Campbells made Cream of Shrimp soup. I'll definitely have to try that recipe, doesn't look too hard to make at all. Thanks for the great video and for the no-weld grill idea, Awesome. take care guys. 👍🍤🍤🦀🦀

Hello Jeff and we are glad you liked it! It's definitely a pretty easy recipe. After doing this I'd say leave out the shredded crab and just add some small shrimp and it'll be even better. Take care and thanks for watching brother

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it brother! After trying this I think it would be better to just use shrimp instead of that shredded crab. Of at least get flaked crab or lobster like the recipe calls for. Man we both go way back on KZbin, I remember that survival package challenge, ah the memories! Thanks for all the years of views comments and support brother John!

@@Reallybigmonkey1 You're more than welcome my brother! Yeah, I hear ya there man... we're definitely a couple of "old school" KZbinrs for sure aren't we, haha. It's funny that you mentioned that survival package challenge... I was thinking about that a little while back. Great minds... 👍 I'm actually planning on starting posting vids again soon... when I do maybe we could do another challenge like that with Nick and Devin if you're interested..(?). Would be fun seeing what our boys could do now that they're full fledged men. As far as all of the years of views, comments, and support... it has truly been my pleasure brother! It's been an honor and privilege to not only support you, but to consider you a friend here as well! Thanks for all of the years of support that you've extended my way as well... it means more than you know Dave!

Well finally a grill this 74 yr old gal can easily make herself. Great video Dave but listen, you need to gather your own wild rice, it'll taste even better. I'm fortunate that I live in an area where it grows. There has also been a concerted effort here to reintroduce it in it's natural habitats from where it had been destroyed.

Congratulations on #300! Nick must have been a toddler when you started. Regarding the grill, if you cut a slot about 1/4 inch deep on each end of the tubes, slightly; larger than the rods, when you inserted the rods, the tubes would not spin. Thanks for another good one!

This was a great video from 2 of my favorite you tubers,and your cooking expertise is beyond compare,and with Nick paying attention to ole Dad's cookin in the woods,im sure he will be doing the same if he is ever out with his friends in the woods.I will definitely try this recipe though as soon as i get into a crab and shrimp and wild rice mood,and i bet a can of mushrooms would even spice it up even more .anyways this video was my Saturday night entertainment instead of tv.Thanks again for a great meal and i bet a trail cam where all the crab juice and everything else was poured out would show half the animals in the woods enjoying your recipe as well lol.We always enjoy your videos and we will see you on the next one!

I’m waiting for some food products in a can that are called, " Chef Boy Oh Dave” 🤪😘 I like wild rice, it takes longer to cook, but it’s well worth the wait. Never bring a round pan to a flat pan fire….😂 My P38’s stay on my keychains at all times. One of my P38’s I got in army basic training in January 1980, it still is very sharp. Great job, guys. ✌️🇺🇸

If you’re looking for a good reliable way to get a fire going that doesn’t take up “much” room, and IF you “play” with a chainsaw much (I do) then cut a length of wood that is the same as your saws bar, THEN cut PARALLEL to the grain of the wood several times all the way through. You’ll end up with LOONNNG strands of sawdust and those will be approximately .030” thick. Those are called “noodles”. Those noodles catch fire very easy even when cut fresh from a freshly cut down tree that’s alive when cut down. They take up a little room but they are EXTREMELY lightweight. They don’t burn ridiculously fast but put out a good amount, so try it out at home to get a feel for what I’m referring to.
