The nice part is that you can use it,without worrying to much because it's private land. Downfall is the rubbish on one side of the site. Maybe great ideas will pop up your mind what you can do with those car rims you have there,so many possibilities. A bushcraft roll away ...... or leverage.....bushcraft trash pull system.... And nice treasures to find as well. Great video,and wise words at the end.

I might could live with the trash but that road noise really ruins the mood there. I guess since it's private land the possibilities are endless. Thanks for watching Steve

I spotted it before you started walking. I have a 1 person tent that a walking stick is all you need. But that type of tent is too small for me. I like green and gray for fall stealth camping. The same colors work for summer.
@Reallybigmonkey12 күн бұрын
Those colors work great in a hardwood forest with lots of dead leaves. In a pine forest like this there's a lot of pine needles which need a reddish orange color camo which I've never been able to find

I have a pop-out tent like that one you showed, but bigger. It's supposed to be a 4-person but when I'm in it, it's seems more like 2 adults, not 4. I guess it's "4-person" if they are kids.

I have the Catoma IBNS. I use it for when I go motorcycle camping because I only need shelter for myself. It's such a simple and easy shelter. I use a lightweight tarp folded in half as the ground sheet and a larger lightweight tarp that I can set up as overhead shelter from sun or rain. It's not necessarily the lightest possible setup, but it's light enough and it's fast.

Oh man... it's a real shame they've turned that property into a junkyard. WHY would anybody DO that?!? It'd be great if you guys could clean up all the trash and make the property "habitable" again. (Yes, I realize it would take a lot of work on property you don't even own, BUT you'd be doing yourself a favor by cleaning it up.) Then you could camp there during hunting season, safely, without a bunch of trash and junk to trip over. As far as the camo goes, you were totally invisible in that last shot! I looked hard, but couldn't see you. Cool!!
@Reallybigmonkey13 күн бұрын
Oh I agree! There's no reason to ever trash a place like that. I have no idea who lived there 30 years ago. If it was for the road noise I might be open to working on the place. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching Janie

Great story. You never mentioned if "Steve" and his wife lived happily ever after.... If they did....he should consider whatever happened to him a blessing. Sounds like Mr. Darnell was a nice man, and the kind of guy anyone would want as a neighbor. ...and he was lucky to be able to spend some time with him.... and how he had a hand in saving his mariage... I think if Mrs. Wilkes is still alive...after time has now passed....I think she would love to hear this story....Ask about and describe the person "Steve" had met.....Then tell her why he left abruptly....and let her know her Dad is doing fine...

Another great video, Dave! I think the first camo drape did better than the second, and your last two hide and seeks, where you hide behind some small foliage, worked the best. That tent would be great on a cot in the summer, but I still prefer my hammock.

Hey Dave I’m new to bush craft/survival and jsut camping in general. Only thing I used knives for is in the kitchen. I was wondering about carbon steel vs stainless steel. I live In a tropical environment and I’m wondering how much maintenance the carbon steel needs to keep from rusting And if it’s worth it to even try to maintain in field or should I jsut get stainless steel to eliminate that concern? I would think less things to worry about in survival situation is best
