THIS! Listen i dont care what a person prefers and i know its controversial to think so but i think everyone is entitled to like what they like HOWEVER i do not understand the logic behind having a preference and at the same time being OBSESSED with the people you do not like. Why not focus on your own life and the women you like instead of ACTIVELY bullying and degrading the people who do not suit your "preference". Its pathetic and sad. Then those same men create biracial kids who they then force onto black women to literally RAISE in order to keep "black culture".

Had a crush on this boy and told my light skin girlfriends at the time which was suppose to be a secret but they told him. He came up to me an said I was ugly and he only F with light skin girls anyways. That kept me from not telling anyone who I had a crush on and that incident was in middle school. OR- " You got some good hair to be dark skin"...And it's not a compliment - it's hurtful!! Why can't I be an attractive woman without mentioning my color???? I've battled this a lot being the only dark one in my family to where I thought being lighter was better as a child. Light skin women... It's not colorism that y'all go thru with dark skin women. It's bullying.. that's a difference. No it isn't right, however history from the house n!gga vs the field n!gga, to the mulattos, til now with lighter skin still being more acceptable in society,movie, music etc -- it causes us to be divided. But y'all do NOT GO THRU COLORISM. Colorism plays in the faces of darker women's jobs, achievements, and the way society views and respects them including their beauty vs a lighter or white woman.

Light/ lighter skin-toned people do have a privilege over darker individuals. It isn't colorism they are facing, it's either privilege guilt or privilege envy. When actual colorism victims say anything or try to correct others they are insulted, belittled, and made to feel less than a human which colorism already does to its victims. Colorism only happens to dark skin people and shouldn't be a thing, to begin with.
@pink-tulip3172 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Some of them see something like being called "light bright", or something like that as colorism🙄They're usually being called that, jokingly, by someone that desires them, but think that it's playful. It's a totally different ball game than being humiliated, joked on, and picked on for being DS, especially a DS woman. Those terms used against DS people are usually meant to be vile, or as a put down, or to discriminate against them. They know that they have privileges, but many don't want to admit to the truth.
@tommygreene74482 жыл бұрын
This statement is false…You can’t pick and choose what colorism is…I’m light skinned and I hate being called high yellow light bright and pretty nigga…Colorism is colorism…I don’t find that funny coming from darker skinned people…It goes both ways…People just need to shut up and stop being offensive to others..whether you’re light skinned or dark skinned
@pink-tulip3172 жыл бұрын
@@tommygreene7448 so would you consider being called "light bright" or "high yellow pretty boy" oppressive, as in being called "burnt" or "ugly, nappy headed, Black a🤬 n'a or 'b' word? Being called that may hurt, but it most likely won't keep you from being picked before a DS person, in many different ways and avenues. That's what you call colorism. It's especially worse for women, and DS women tend to have it the hardest. So it's not "reversed" anything. Otherwise, that would mean that the reasons behind it, and the outcomes, would be the same on both ends. Unfortunately, colorism does exist, and the topic is uncomfortable. Instead of trying to minimize it, like some people do with racism, it needs to be addressed truthfully, or it's going to keep going on for even more generations to come.

@@tommygreene7448 I get it and there are some things that may be painful to lighter skin people. The jokes or comments about light skin doesn’t have the degrading context. I’ve never seen a black man say light skin is ugly or dirty. Never seen or heard a black man say I’m dating white women cause I don’t do light skins. This is also not just about men we go through this in multiple industries. Have to work way more harder to get that promotion, or the moment we attempt to defend ourselves we get called the angry black woman. Look at the reality tv shows all you see is light skin and mixed women fighting yet we see people say those “black women” are ratchet when those women are not black. I think many of them feel superior to black women if they caught a black man.
