Chelsea's impressive FA Cup form of recent years continued at Wembley in 2012, but they were certainly given a real run for their money by Liverpool, chasing their first Cup title since 2006.
It had looked as though Roberto Di Matteo's men were going to cruise to victory after going two goals clear in the early stages of the second half thanks to goals from Ramires and Didier Drogba, but the introduction of substitute Andy Carroll by Reds boss Kenny Dalglish changed the whole dynamic of the game and almost saw Liverpool draw level and take the match to extra-time.
The big Geordie was just what Liverpool had been crying out for in a stale first half, with Luis Suarez often left isolated as a lone striker, whilst Chelsea largely controlled proceedings and took an early lead through Drogba, whose own FA Cup Final record was further enhanced.
Unfortunately for Dalglish and Liverpool though, it was too little too late and Chelsea managed to contain the Merseysiders and hold on to win their fourth FA Cup in the last six years.

@CAREFREE We are theFamousCFC Apart from when they preferred to lose to you on the penultimate game of the 2009/10 season as it was the first year that ManUtd could overtake Liverpool on overall league titles, hence Gerrard's deliberate backpass to Drogba. Shame Liverpool won at all costs when ManUtd came to Anfield that season, team's don't try harder to beat anyone more than they do vs ManUtd. That 09/10 season was so fixed for Chelsea to win, it included 2 dodgy PL wins for Chelsea against ManUtd when they were 2nd best in both.... still only won by 1 point despite everything going Chelsea's way all season.

You may as well think of a small team and say imagine they won a treble that season, it's just a waste of time. Chelsea were only going to win cups at best that season where a lot is down to luck, they were extremely lucky to get 2 and overachieved, not for the amount they spend they didn't overachieved at all especially as they were so bad in the PL but for the way they played during the season they overachieved to finish with 2 trophies ....The PL and therefore 3 trophies was impossible for them that year they didn't have any consistency...I'd understand if you picked a season like 2004/05 and said imagine they won a treble of LeagueCup, PL & Champions league (not "the treble" but a treble of some sort) Although I personally think Milan would've won it that year had Chelsea got to the final but I don't blame people thinking what if they'd beaten Liverpool they may have won a treble, it was possible. 2011/12 wasn't.

I'm sorry, for the people that didn't know the WHOLE ball must cross the line so even if a fraction of the ball is on the line and the rest of the ball has crossed the line it still doesn't count as a goal. So now look back at 4:47, the whole ball hasn't crossed the line.

I am aware of the whole ball crossing the line law but the OP in this particular thread that we are both posting and adding to wrote: "So now look back at 4:47 the whole ball hasn't crossed the line." Well if you do that, the crossbar blocks half of the ball, so I am not quite sure how he decided it had not crossed the line anyway. Yet how I decided it did is because at the camera angle we are seeing is set a bit before the line rather than exactly on it. If you then look at where the bar meets the post on the far side, you will see a gap between the goal line and the crossbar, meaning the crossbar is set back behind the goal line. If you then use your mind's eye to imagine the outer left edge of the ball then that part of it is behind the goal line, despite the view of the left side of the ball being blocked by the crossbar.
