LSPI (low speed pre-ignition) kills Ecoboost 4 bangers like no tomorrow. Seen it in the dealer world. They're torquey engines that hate torque lol. Cam it (if any exist) with a big turbo and don't let it eat down low and it might live longer. This was an issue with manual transmission vehicles and people lugging it. Which in Ecoboost world means like anything below 3500-4000rpm lol. The automatics have strategies to prevent you from being able to load it up hard at lower rpms actually. Even if you try to in sport mode with manual controlled shifts. It'll kick down a gear or two and say "nah, I'm good".

@4touchdowns1game292 жыл бұрын
Running straight e85 helps a ton. Also the lspi problem in high hp builds can be solved by swapping in the 2.0 block that bolts straight into the 2.3 and putting different rods. most of those ecoboost engines running high hp blow because they usually shift a cylinder wall from the stock 2.3 being open deck and coolant can get in. Causes a hot spot and blows out the cylinder. I've seen swapped block ecoboosts with just bolt ons a block and rods run 600 hp all day with no problems.
@ryguy40672 жыл бұрын
Hey Chelsea building these with Forged pistons and good rods is dirt cheap. You can do a 2.0 closed deck block with the 2.3 crank rods and pistons and make a pretty strong motor. A lot of guys running them reliably at 500 and over.

Have a dedicated power wire for the alternator. Taking notes from the all the BMW they have a dedicated power for starter/jumper post/alternator. Just like modern BMWs the PARTYUPANOTCH has a lot of electric consumers. Having a dedicated power wire for the alternator to the battery will help dampen the voltage fluctuation coming from the alternator. This would also allow the ecu get a more stable battery voltage so the alternator tune isn't over correcting. From your previous videos it looks like you got a good size wire going from the batter to starter to the alternator. As a backseat/keyboard mechanic recommendation: Run another power wire up front to have all the consumers on that wire to separate it from the alternator.

Might be worth looking into Stochastic Pre-Ignition (SPI). It has a tendency to happen at low RPM, high load. I have seen it take out rods just like the one shown. Basically just a huge spike in cylinder pressure because combustion happens too early while the piston is still in the compression stroke. Fuel injection timing is a big deal on anything DI, as well as number of injection pulses per firing event. This is a great project, hopefully you get it sorted out. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-speed_pre-ignition
