Karen Rose is one of my all time favorite authors! I LOVE her books and I hope you do too. I'm currently reading hers in order though. I'm on the Cincinnati series right now.

Hello, a huge fan of Karen Rose here, you just need to read the two previous books in the trilogy. Under NO circumstances Say Goodbye can be read as a standalone, trust me you will not understand have of the book. The Sacramento trilogy has an overarching suspense/mystery plot about a cult (non-spoiler) I have read every single book by Karen Rose and this is how it works: She created a universe of romantic suspense series interconnected by the characters (family, friends, colleagues, etc). Each series takes place in a different city or area of the US and each series can be read independently from the rest. Like in most romance series every book follows a different couple. Obviously, it's more enjoyable if you read everything because you get all the relationships and connections between characters from the different series. For example, the male protagonist of Say Goodbye is the son of the heroine of the first book in the whole romantic suspense universe (Don't tell, Chicago #1). (non-spoiler) These books are amazing really twisty and, at times, very violent and descriptive of that violence, so be aware of that. (Sorry for any spelling or grammatical error, English is not my first language)

Have you tried reading Molly Harper? I think you might enjoy them. Either the Nice girl-series (paranormal romance) which is her first ones or some of her other series are very easy cosy reads.
