Chemex 8 Cup - What 8 cups really means

First off, this is the 8 cup, handblown model of the Chemex. I was hoping I can help clarify to people shopping for a Chemex what is meant by 8 cup and what it might practically make.
Many people were asking or commenting... that this might hold 64 oz. They figure 8oz is a cup so 8 cups is 64 oz. You need to keep in mind that the standard cup of coffee (also mentioned by Chemex) is 5 oz. So eight 5oz cups would be 40oz.
For me this model is best for making 5-6 five oz cups of coffee. In this video I explain why and it has to do with the bump/marker in the glass on the lower end of the Chemex used as a measurement mark.

the marker is supposed to be the halfway point. full capacity is to the bottom of the collar.

Thanks for the clarification! A cup of coffee for me could be 8-12 ounces. I plan on getting the “8 Cup” Chemex to make multiple coffees for myself and guests so I don’t have to replicate my Aeropress recipe over and over.
