There has been a lot of buzz about how glycolic acid is bad for brown skin. I respect that, but I've used all kinds of AHAs and I get the best results from GA. I don't get any side effects, and it truly works wonders on my skin. So my 2 cents on the discussion would be, I'll stop using GA when I face a problem with it - cross the bridge when I come to it. Till then, you can be sure I'm going to town with it (responsibly). Have a great day!

Hey Rubina I hope you're doing well We all know Chemical Exfoliation Is great but we also know that exfoliating chemically can cause a lot of damage to our skin's moisture barrier, and very few people are aware of that.We know how to treat pigmentation and dark spots ,textures but we don't know how to treat and maintain a good moisture barrier Please talk about that and educate us about moisture barrier and Ingredients to use and ingredients to avoid to repair damaged moisture barrier and to main it healthy

If you have highly sensitive skin with mild rosacea, think twice before using glycolic acids. Even better avoid it. I nearly destroyed my skin using glycolic acid 7% for a year(four times a week). Sadly it took me a long time to realise that my skin started experiencing hyperpigmentation because of it.This hyperpigmentation was definitely not due to the sun because I am religious with suncare. I have now switched to pha toner. Its far gentler on the skin. Strictly speaking, glycolic acid in the long run is not suited for Indian skin because our skin is much more sensitive to pigmentation than Caucasian skin.We tan less compared to Caucasians and pigment crazily more than them as we mostly lie in type 4 on the Fitzpatrick scale. So guys we need to do everything in our power to stop pigmentation.Dont let your melanocytes gets activated(responsible for producing pigment on our skin). These get activated by slightest injury,UV rays and exfoliation by powerful acids etc. So opt for gentler acids which penetrate slowly into the skin like mandelic acid or PHA's. PHA's need more research since it's relatively new in the market. We need to be more educated ( via doctors!!)and crazy careful with our skin. Many products though give short term good results may not be good for long term. The damage might happen so slowly that you might not even notice it. Prevention is better than treatment guys! Please refer to Dr. VANITA RATTAN on youtube for expert advice on brown skin skincare. You will understand how Indian skin requires a different approach from Caucasian skin. And most of the research available for products in market is based on Caucasian skin studies.

@@RubinaSkincare I live in Bangalore; keep myself hydrated orally. Moisturiser I use on a daily basis is mostly very light, use either The Face Shop ceramide one or Cetaphil DAM(heavy one) or at times sebamed face gel moisturiser or normal cream based moisturiser. I apply light weight moisturisers on my face because I feel it may aggravate or encourage clogging pores. I was one of those who never felt the need of a moisturiser until I started actively taking care of my skin with a routine. Do you reckon open comedones are normal while purging owing to acids routine for the first time ? I have started incorporating retenoid once a week in my routine as well with retinoid cream following light moisturiser on bare face.
