Chemistry Ink Stamps Part 1 - Choices, Choices, What To Do!

This project has been on the drawing board for quite some time, so I finally decided to just make something and see how it goes. In this video I take a look at some of the various options.

They have octoganal tile for backsplash type application at lowes that are really nice stone which to me seems like a good stamp making 'block' to put the pad on

Thanks, I've got some hex stock, but not seen octagonal. I did consider making some octagonal wood since it would be quite cheap, but the SEBS plastic isn't too expensive and at 4.5g for each stamp it seemed easier to just mould it. Plus I've had issues with getting a good glue when I used the mushroom knobs in the past, and also I'd have to mark the tops somehow and colour code them all. A slightly more elegant solution would have been to extrude the stamps as a tube with ridges down the sides for the chemical bonds. Would need a dowel down the middle to stiffen it up, but doable. Not a particularly viable solution for short runs, though. Setting up an extrusion line is a bit fussy so you'd need to seriously mass produce them to make it worth the hassle.
