"How do various fluorescents look under/with navy" sounds like a fantastic video! It would be really interesting to see how purple pop compares to fluorescent fuchsia, and how fluorescent lemon compares to radioactive, especially because purple pop leans very pink and radioactive leans yellow. With the addition of navy, maybe the differences are fairly minimized!

Multiple various navy-glazed combinations? Sure, why not? That's what your Etsy shop is for! The original single ply worsted is my favorite of the three colorways, but they're all lovely.

Very pretty! This would make a gorgeous sweater for sure.

It is super hard to commit to the perfect color, so you’ll just have to knit more than one sweater! 🧶 ❤️

SO HARD to commit!!

I love this miniseries! I dye a lot for sweaters and I'm definitely the opposite as I dive in after minimal prototyping. Going in without having my heart set on an exact shade allows me to appreciate what colour I actually get. But you're going to get beautiful results from your work.

Hahahaha! Omg, I get the same type of paralysis, I usually just give up and dye it all black because that's what I really want to do. 😆 I've found it helps me if I tell myself I can make more than one sweater!

I have to say I was giggling a little because of how many times you talked about trying different colors. To me, it is a sign that the color you are wanting isn't what you have. Keep going, you will find "the one"

I laughing at the overthinking! I know it so well, perfectionism as a road block to just getting it done.
@ChemKnitsTutorials2 жыл бұрын
It's not that I need it to be PERFECT, I just want to know in my gut I want to spend a bunch of hours with it, lol. I haven't dyed the next round yet.

@@ChemKnitsTutorials I totally understand! You wouldn't be happy either knitting or wearing the sweater if it wasn't something that felt right.

The fiber’s spinning structure is so different that it affects the way the dye molecules lay on the fiber. Very interesting.

I think going for it with purple pop also sounds super pretty and worth a shot.

I relate to this, I don't do much precision yarn dyeing but for my current project, I ended up ordering tapestry wool to get the EXACT colors I wanted for the designs

I had to dye more to finish off the second sleeve. Fortunately, the color was still a match, as I had my fingers crossed. I took my time, using the same pot you are using, dyeing 200 grams each. But your recipe calls for 300 grams each. I do like your color very much. It will be a beautiful sweater!

YAAASS! I'd love to see the neons under navy! also, how will your sweater look under a blacklight? Cause that could be amazing for halloween or going to the movies (some still have black lights in the theater itself). I'm curious is radioactive would produce a teal-ish looking color. I'm also curious about glazing with other dark colors, like burgundy or forest green. Also, I finally looked up aliquot today. It always sounds a little weird, like it should be "allocate" but not quite. Yay for learning! ps. any of these colors would look amazing in a sweater, you really cannot go wrong.

Or maybe 0.8g fluorescent fuchsia and 1.0g of navy (if you wanted it bluer.)

I think you should try washing your bleeder skein again to see if it still bleeds. I am curious. My bleeder yarn never really did stop bleeding.

If thicker yarn makes a difference, and this is DK, and you want to use worsted for the sweater, wouldn’t you want to do a prototype on the worsted?
@mirandavikanderson69582 жыл бұрын
My .75 % royal purple by dharma looks a lot like your single ply, you could try using it instead of Navy. But bump it up to 1 % and ad the pink

What you described sounds like playing by ear in music. Would we call it dyeing by ear?

How do you know which dye colors strike faster than others? Is it strictly through trial and error or is it a known that blues strike faster than pinks? I'd love to try this techniques with other colors, but don't have a large resources of undyed yarns. Is there info somewhere I can research which colors strike faster than others?

What do you think about glazing on non-superwash yarn? Is it possible? I’m planning a handspun sweater (still in the fleece-washing stage 😅) and will probably want to dye the yarn.
@ChemKnitsTutorials2 жыл бұрын
It depends on how thick the plys are. If it is a thicker ply then it might not be so hard. for thinner plies it could be hard if colors take a while to bind to the yarn.
@coffeedogcrochet2 жыл бұрын
@@ChemKnitsTutorials I am planning on a 3-ply with a good bit of twist, probably a DK to worsted weight. In the meantime I am bingeing your glazing videos and getting lots of ideas to try out on non-superwash commercial yarn!
