When there is serious illness teamwork in a marriage is necessary. Marina, you have a good husband. I'm so glad that your parents are local. If I am positive for breast cancer I have nobody to drive me. A real problem!

Keep going young lady! I would think that your precious children are quite the incentive to make you happy and to be positive when nothing else seems to. Kudos to your husband as well, definitely a part of the equation and apparently a great asset for your family. God bless you all! Neuropathy is mainly about your psoas muscle! Please read up on it, very useful info and just keep being you, you are beautiful.

Hi , I just came across your blog- journey . I have you have made me stop freaking.out as much. I freak then calm , then of course , you're mind starts up again. I start chemo/radiation on Wednesday ( today is Saturday) I'm an active 63 , squamous cell/HPV diagnosis on the back of my tongue . I am a fiercely independent women & a dog and a 14 yr grandson . I , ok , we walk everyday 1 - 3 hrs ..my girl is a collie who loves outside as much as I do. I will do what the docs suggest . I have 7 wks . You have instilled positivity in me now . I'm scared ..but extremely hopeful cuz its stage 1 , treatable and curable. Can't wait to listen of your journey. Thank you for easing my mind. My chest is lighter now ✌

Wouldn't taking b12 supplements help against neuropathy too?
@MarinaBlackford3 жыл бұрын
My oncologist would not advise that. They do not want you to take a lot of supplements during chemo because they don’t want anything interfering with the chemotherapy doing it’s “job”. Google B12 and chemotherapy and the latest research agrees with this.
@lorij67963 жыл бұрын
@@MarinaBlackford Yes really important to just take what your oncologist advises.
@wwilliams32783 жыл бұрын
@@MarinaBlackford yes agreed! I have low iron but cannot take iron pills. Instead, I am given iron infusions with chemo if necessary. ❤
@Green2Red27 ай бұрын
@@wwilliams3278the Iron pills DO NOT work ...most people can't absorb enough iron from them. My doctors had me on folic acid pills with iron pills, my iron didn't budge until my oncologist started iron infusions. She even said, those pills never work.

What is or was your diet while quimo did you eat any sweet
@MarinaBlackford2 жыл бұрын
I usually had 3 meals a day 7am-7pm. Breakfast is usually eggs or oatmeal, smoothies, soup or sandwich for lunch and chicken, Turkey or plant based dinner and sometimes red meat. Everything “organic, grass fed or pasture raised” when possible. I don’t naturally have a sweet tooth but I eat the occasional ice cream.

Did the ice packs help the first time?
@MarinaBlackford3 жыл бұрын
I did not do ice packs the first time I did chemo. I was not aware of that option. I did do acupuncture the first time during chemo for nausea and neuropathy and I felt that it did help.

Hi! I think that’s up to you. If you go somewhere, that’s very clean and hygienic and your immune system is well then maybe. You just have to be very careful with avoiding infection when you’re doing chemotherapy.

@MarinaBlackford Жыл бұрын
I went to all of my chemo’s by myself. I think you can drive after if you feel well enough. That is possible. If you need help when you are tired at home, I would see if there is any volunteer help in your area. Maybe a Facebook group. Maybe a neighbor that can help check on you.

Hi Marina, I’m going through chemo right now, just had my first ABVD treatment last Thursday and I was so sick:( is that the regimen you were on? And how did you deal with the side effects?
@MarinaBlackford Жыл бұрын
Hi, the first chemotherapy can be very hard. I was on AC and Taxol the first time and carboplatin and Taxol the second time. Report your symptoms to your medical team. They can change your dosage or give you more antinausea to help. Stay hydrated, rest and move when you feel well enough. I hope it gets better for you!
