My advice is not to get sucked into being scared. Chemo wasnt half as bad as i orig thought. Just drink a ton of water every few hours and hydrate the heck out of yourself...it will carry the stuff put of the bod faster. And please shave ur head like i did. I looked pretty good. Its a good exp to have a shaved head. Keeps u humble

Don’t shave your head right away. Not all chemo causes hair loss. If you start to lose your hair, then it is your choice, but wait and see.

I am lucky to live in Australia 🇦🇺 My chemo treatment is free at my local hospital . 💫 The only thing I pay for is a new anti nausea pill called " Akynzeo" . It is optional to take this but is recommended . 💫 If I don't take this the staff said I can take a weaker tablet called "maxalon " .. I take one capsule of " Akynzeo" , one hour before each chemo session and I get charged $7.30 per capsule . 💊 It is meant to stop nausea for about 4 days after taking it . ✨ I have had 5 sessions of chemo so far and have not felt sick at all . I have 2 different chemo drugs given to me at each session... Paclitaxel and Carboplatin .

Thank you for your insight. I’m 66 and have RA was diagnosed with bladder cancer over a year ago. I had two surgeries and 5 sets of chemotherapy. I actually did pretty well with chemotherapy which ended in late May of 2024. My hair started falling out but seems to have stopped shortly after chemo ended. However, I still don’t know what the heck happened to me from late October but all of sudden had pretty bad neuropathy in my feet past my ankles and hands as well as chucks of hair coming out 😮 The neuropathy in hands is a bit better but not the feet. I can walk BUT I can’t balance at all and have fallen twice. I’m at my wits end because this has impacted my life in that I can’t clean cook or drive. I’m getting all new medical providers for 2025 because all 5 of my doctors blow off my concerns. If anyone knows what might help with the neuropathy please let me know.

Day 3 my whole body was in so much pain, day 4 it was in my lower back and my legs, day 5 the pain is still in my hips and worse in my legs. I rest quite a bit but do get up to do some movement exercises with my legs, but nothing seems to take the pain away, I have been spraying with Arnica Spray as well. I am 68 yrs of age. Ok I have to ask this. I don’t have cancer but, someday I might, which is why I ask. We all know that nausea (no matter what the cause) does not always lead to vomiting. For anyone that’s had chemo: In the case of nausea from chemo, how often does it tend to lead through to vomiting? More often than not? Or LESS often?

Hi Marina!I appreciate your sharing - that helped a lot! I am going to get radiation and it cause me anxiety... I had BC surgery that removed 19 lymph nodes from my armpit and they say that radiation increases the risk of getting lymphedema. What did you do to prevent from getting lymphedema? And does radiation have risks to damage my heart and lung? Thanks!
@MarinaBlackford
@MarinaBlackford 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kristie! Make sure to check out my radiation videos. I share some tips there for the skin. I did not have a high risk for lymphedema due to not having many lymph nodes removed. I know one of your oncology doctors or nurses can prescribe a compression sleeve to help prevent lymphedema though. There is risk of damage to the lungs and heart from radiation. Your radiation team will have you hold your breath to help prevent this. This process comes down to what type of cancer you have, what's the best way to get rid of it all with the least chance of reoccurrence and if you're okay with the side effects. Everything is your choice and you should voice your concerns so you feel comfortable moving forward with your treatment.

I would never advise anyone to eat sugar. That is up to them. “Sugar” aka cane sugar more so is inflammatory in the body. Honey is not. I found 2 peer reviewed medical articles stating honey has anti cancer properties and actually aids Tamoxifen in killing breast cancer cells. ❤❤I agree on honey. Vimergy makes a chemical free Propolis. So wonderful ❤❤. I start chemo in a few weeks for colon cancer. Stage 3a. Xo

Did you drive yourself?

I did not. I probably could have but I liked the companionship and support on the drive especially after chemo was done.
