Cheng Xunzhao bursted into judo scene in Rio olympic games where he won bronze medal. His trademark variations of osoto otoshi and seoi nage are some of the best in his weight category. On his good day Cheng is very hard to stop and he is just getting better.

Well, in situation you highlighted he got only waza-ari, so he continued with osaekomi. Overall it is normal to hold down opponent even after ippon. When video review function was instated, in some occasions referees overturn ippons to waza-ari, so it's better to be sure and continue with osaekomi.
