I have to say she is very professional with profound ancient Chinese culture, and very astonished with she got Ph.D. degree from a Chinese university.

I can’t imagine how you got a PhD in "Ancient Chinese Literature". Even as a Chinese, it is very difficult.

I'm Korean and did my master's at Beijing University back in 1999, majoring in Chinese linguistics. I came across another vid introducing her a few days ago. From what I understand about ancient Chinese literature, nothing what she taught in class seemed like it. It rather seemed to be an English conversation class.

I am pretty much agree with you but I think the blonde hair American teacher will become less populated in short. Perhaps the students go to attend her class are actually more interested in learning and practising English rather than Accient Chinese Culture. 我也有个韩国70后的大叔朋友哈哈。韩国ou ba 很好玩,很有趣。

What she teaches in her other video I would not even say is primary school stuff but English conversation kindergarten stuff. Never mind ancient Chinese literature. I wonder how did she get her PhD in Chinese ancient literature.

I am Chinese by blood but born outside of China but can speak a bit of mandarin. I am trying to learn more about Chinese culture ( I know the basics ) and am fascinated by her story. What an achievement. I think the depth required for a PhD is very difficult even for one born into it.

Sophia is such a role model for me. I have just started my master’s in Taiwan!
The way she speaks is slow & thoughtful, looks like she already picked up the certain mannerisms of Chinese people & its culture. She's a rare Westerner teaching Chinese Culture back to Chinese students.. I doubt if there is a Chinese Teacher in the world teaching Western 'Culture' to western students..?

In Taiwan, there is a Russian professor teaching Chinese history and archeology, and a Chinese professor who once taught American politics in the US.

A Westerner stole the concept of Yin-Yang from I-Ching classics to develop the first computer. Only Chinese who don't value the metaphysics of ancient Chinese literature will lose out in technological advancement. There in ancient Chinese metaphysical literature contains much secrets.

Does she teach ancient Chinese literature or Chinese art? Those are two completely different subject matter? I imagine that, to teach ancient Chinese literature, you have to have a strong grasp on old and middle Chinese, which requires years of experience beyond all of the time required just to learn the modern chinese.

Chinese literature is now being taught by Western and English literature is now being taught by the Indians.
Haha.....a lot of nonsense is going on with contemporary modern art! Contemporary modern art is essentially what you dare or dare not. It has nothing to do aesthetics nor meaning. Just the artist's inner struggle for order and sanity. Often the cry of a lost soul hehehe
