Kratos tells Mimir the story of how he became The God of War after the Oracle Aletheia had visions of Olympus’s destruction at the hands of the God of War. Wanting to prevent that prophesy which she thought to be about Ares she helps Kratos out with breaking his blood oath to Ares, not realizing that by doing that it would eventually lead to Kratos becoming the God of War himself … the same God of War that would bring about the destruction of Olympus.

[ God of War Ragnarök is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is scheduled to be released worldwide on November 9, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It will be the ninth installment in the God of War series, the ninth chronologically, and the sequel to 2018's God of War. Loosely based on Norse mythology, the game will be set in ancient Scandinavia and feature series protagonist Kratos and his teenage son Atreus. Serving as the finale to the Norse era of the series, the game will cover Ragnarök, a series of events that bring about the end of days, and depicts the deaths of some of the Norse gods, which was foretold to happen in the previous game after Kratos killed the Æsir god Baldur. ]

And because your choices never change, you will learn that Heimdall intends to kill your son in Asgard, and you will do what you do best". Your fate is determined by your nature. Ascension is a cool game, but it feels like a side story, like Ghost of Sparta and Chains of Olympus. However, it brings good character development for Kratos' feud with Ares, long before Kratos truly started his war against Ares' army. Ghost of Sparta is the better prequel in my opinion because it takes place at an important stage of Kratos' life, it has a great story buildup for the sequel, it explains Kratos' wrath towrads Olympus so well, and so on. Ascension shows a better side of Kratos, and I'm glad the new game mentioned this game, but the powers which Kratos attains are less unique than during the Second Titanomachy, which might be understandable I guess, but Kratos still fought a feud with the Furies, and while he had godly magic, his only Godly weapon the Blades of Chaos. Chains of Olympus had the Ganulet of Zeus, which was a great weapon. And God of War 1 was unique because of its storytelling and narration, but the only weapon Kratos recieves, the Blade of Artemis, sucks in my opinion, but he has great abilities and his sword battle with the God of War is magnificant.

@@noro329 I can actually agree with that. It just feels like a smaller game though, but it offers many important and interesting developments. It gives you an understanding of Kratos’ rage for the Gods during GOW2, it mentions how the Sisters of Fate are serving Olympus, it expands on a non canon story that was introduced in a bonus scene in God of War 1 in Deimos being trapped in Death’s Domain rather than the underworld and shows how Kratos reunited with his mother, and Kratos’ claim of Ares’ throne is a direct consequence of the torture he endured in Ascension after Ares betrayed him and killed his family.

It's ironic that Zeus feared kratos his son would kill him and take over Olympus, and yet Ares was out to do just that the god of war. But also the prophecy a marked warrior will kill zeus and take his throne is also ironic because if u look at Ares he is also marked. If Zeus never tasked Athena and Ares to take demos and left kratos and demos alone the prophecy might have come true by Ares taking out zeus. But since Zeus was paranoid he took demos which in return started kratos journey to go on a revenge spree killing all the Greek gods and then becoming the god of war while being marked by Ares making the prophecy a full circle and then killing zeus while kratos was the god of war.

The God of Wars now wages war for peace. I want to keep it minimal but still pose the question how a God of Peace would go forward? Pacifist until everyone dies, or war towards those who bring up on war? I love this whole series.
@dawnpolaris1299
@dawnpolaris1299 Жыл бұрын
I'd imagine it's war towards those who bring war. Many people have waged war for the sake of war and destruction, Hitler is a good example of that. Those who fought war for the sake of peace doesn't mean that they'd wait until they themselves will be attacked. Churchill is a decent example when following the same comparison

I suppose now they're the gods of ENDING wars, rather than revelling in and instigating them like Kratos/Ares did in Greece.

If kratos refused to kill orkos, they could've worked together, probably with Athena and possibly even zeus, they could've dealt with ares together, then maybe found an alternative method of breaking the oath. At the very least, the man should've went to zeus with what had happened and see if anything could be done. Zeus isn't necessarily a very helpful god, but orkos knew of ares' plan to overthrow zeus, that's certainly something zeus can appreciate knowing and this is pre pandora's box. No emotional fuckery yet. We could've had a very different story if kratos and orkos worked together instead of resorting to such fatal methods of problem solving. Tragic

possibly, but that is a BIG maybe and when you read Greek mythology Zeus is every bit of a douche and a liar as he is portrayed as in god of war. (plus he is horny as hell too though that they do not show but he was XD lol)

@@Vakaria-plays I'm aware, but a good thing that comes with that asshole behavior is a powerful ego, and an ego the size of zeus' he'd be very thankful to know about a plan conspiring against him. Zeus may have been a douchebag, but he can appreciate loyalty

Yeah this was before he was getting plagued by nightmares which only made him even more angry because think about it: nightmares cause lack of sleep which in turn makes someone irritable, so that’s how we eventually got the Kratos we saw in the rest of the Greek saga where much of his compassion died until Pandora helped him regain it along with hope in GoW3 and he then carried it over to the Norse saga.

Kinda feels like the ending of this, how all mortal wars in the future were driven by Kratos being the god of war, that line was made at a time before they decided to continue on the story, have Kratos utterly destroy Olympus, and move to Norse lands to become a god of hope.
