What’s really sad is that if you look around the house and go through the dads drawer, you can find a letter his ex wife wrote to her son saying how she was sorry for leaving but couldn’t stand his alcoholic father and as soon as he writes back to her she will send for him and they will be together. I left him alive solemnly because I hoped after I killed his dad he would be reunited with his mom.

I don't get emotional about video game kills and I also found RDR2 to be very slow paced and boring. I prefer games like GTA, COD and Doom.

I remember this encounter as a strauss mission, so you just went to that house on your own, killed the guy and robbed the house? Damn, they thought of several possibilities even for such a minor event... When I came back as arthur, he attacked me for "murdering" his dad (who tries to kill you in the mission) and I stabbed him. Came back again in the epilogue and the house was empty and rotten.

Then when you wake up from the pit don't go back as Arthur. Go back as John and take your money back. All of it should be behind the painting. That along with the money in the mail and you'll be filthy rich!

This was the mission that made me stop doing Strauss missions on my first play-through (which is a shame cause the Strauss missions following this one is when Arthur finally turns around and starts helping the debtors). I just felt so horrible for coming into this random kid’s home, killing his (albeit abusive) father, stealing what few valuables they had, and then leaving him stranded in the middle of the swamps, alone. I wish they let Arthur offer to give the kid a ride to his mom’s home.

So if I'm reading your request correctly - you want to know what happens if Arthur just steals and runs away leaving both the son & father alive and then you revisit the house seven years later as John? Now that's interesting ... what reaction do you think would happen? ( my guess is that would treat John as just a normal trespasser without any mention of Arthur robbing them years earlier )
