You are so right Joe, once the printing bug bites it's impossible to let go. Getting amazing results from my Pro100S, it's brought new life to my favourite photos. I've followed all your advise and have a fully colour managed workflow. I'm using PermaJet papers which have been great value and produce beautiful prints using their supplied ICC profiles. At this time I'm sticking to pure OEM ink, yes it's costly but the results are breathtaking in my opinion. I might look into refilling with 3rd party at some point but I'm happy ( kind of lol ) just paying for " the good stuff " for now at least. I'll upgrade my color munki monitor calibrator to the version that I can create my own profiles. Perhaps by that point I'll try out 3rd party inks. I would echo your thoughts regarding home printing in that people should thoroughly research it before jumping in. There are lots of Pros but also many Cons to consider. Ink and paper are not cheap and the printers are big! 😊

Okay, so you describe calibrating the screen thoroughly and in a way that is easily understood. You mention profiles but say, we will cover that down the road (in the future). Then you recap and say it is not only important to get a screen calibrator but one you can create profiles down the road ? But you haven't discussed profiles yet, what they are, why they are important, how to create them and what tools you may need to create them. How will I acquire a screen calibrator now that will also help me create profiles in the future , if I don't know what I'm looking for ? You mentioned Xrite i1 pro 2 and Spider. Will either of these calibrators suffice ? Are accessories mandatory and which accessories are necessary ? I guess I'm slow (being from Louisiana) but I don't believe I am keeping up w/ you :(

If you take a look at my over 40 playlist library you will find a basic printing and color managed workflow playlists which will address all of this. The reason I said that is because there are two videos coming up about the way one should.prepare to.create a custom profile either by you or a third party profile.maker like me.

my old epson printer [7 carts] is getting closer to achieving optimum quality after continually working slowly on cleaning up the head and nozzles ... because of Jose' advice, yea this is exciting!

Great video! This is why I haven’t bought a real photo printer yet; there is so much to learn from my “little” Epson workforce printer - which makes surprising good prints - that buying a pro printer makes no sense. Couple that with increasing knowledge of the weaknesses and strengths of each brand it makes choosing the “right” printer difficult.

Eventually you will pull the trigger but hey there's no hurry. I would just continue using the smaller printer till I really need to go with a larger output.

Oh , ah ha !! Qimage is a processing software like LR or PS. Now I can ask a question which has been on my mind. :) Do you know if LR-6 has a schedule unclog preset like you found in Qimage ?

Jose has kept alot of folks from throwing away their printers......i threw away some decent printers in the past, before i stumbled on this channel, because i had no guidance, and i was too dumb to figure out how to correct the problem

alrighty now.....and my old gray mare epson printer is printing so perty now!!! it just gets better every day...btw Jose, I have a question....I heard you say to use the 1440 dpi setting on the epson 2200, and i am curious shouldn't i use the 2880 dpi setting or is there a reason to use the 1440 setting instead?
@cheo19496 жыл бұрын
It's just not going to show much if any improvement. 2880 x 720 DPI just means more dots are overlapped or interleaved on the same linear inch of print.X But these dots spread a tiny bit due to the wicking action of the paper. Glossy less than matte. high res printing on matte paper should be kept lower or it will begin to look muddy and not sharp. 720-1440 for matte and 1440- 2880 for glossy.

oh, really? ok i see what you are talking about......will have to put this in my notes.......

any suggestions? on epson 2200 startup... 3 colors= magenta yellow cyan [oem] from nozzle checks are now complete most times, the others around 3/4 approx, i let the head sit on a windex sheet last night, i have been using printer settings 1440 dpi/ matte photo paper setting to print [using the oem matte ink] to do nozzle checks and nozzle cleans and a few test pages about once or twice a day.... shows slow improvement for all colors.... should i stay away from using any cleaner run thru the printhead and just keep running 1 or 2 nozzle cleans daily along with nozzle check and then let printer rest and slowly give it time to clean up? the printer potty came in will install it next day.....

Keep on doing what you are doing. The Forced ( BAD 0 treatment directly through the print head ink nipples is ABSOLUTELY the last resort as you can indeed destroy the print head doing that a bit too forceful.

This Epson printer seems perfect if it takes sublimation ink, it does not have cartridges rather it has built in tanks where you fill them with Epson bottles and ink, if that one can take the Epson genuine dye ink or for that matter precision colors dye ink and the head does not seize then it is perfect set up: epson.com/For-Work/Printers/Inkjet/Expression-Premium-ET-7750-EcoTank-Wide-format-All-in-One-Supertank-Printer/p/C11CG16201

Does it use any chips, barcodes or other system to prevent you from refilling with anything other than OEM? If it does then you would.not be able to. Regardless of whether the print head can handle sublimation inks or not.
@photozen83986 жыл бұрын
If you look the images it has the supplied ink bottles that you pour the ink in the tanks, so no chips nor barcodes, now the problem could be that the ink is dye ink which is water based, how the sub dye ink will behave compared to the water based ink, and since those tanks are part of the printer how much fungal problem can emerge if you use a "contaminated" sublimation dye ink. you cannot remove those tanks as far as I know. Mikey from qimage answered my question on your live stream tonight and said that there are people using the Epson genuine sub ink on those printers but I have to search more .

here is a video of someone from England doing it with sub inks: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXrSdn-OrqqqldE
