No new printer here, but watched to reinforce concepts, and shared with two friends who have yet to set up their Pro 100s - wanted to make sure they got off on the right foot! Cheers!

Great video as usual Jose. Exactly how I setup my printers. First one I didn't have the colormunki, but for my XP-15000 did it step by step as you have explained in a few videos and bang on nirvana of prints matching my screen over and over again. Hope you received the Christmas package I sent you, and enjoyed it. 👌

Thank you Jose. I had my workflow and settings down when I was editing with iMac. With Windows 10 I was lost, and have used Epson Print Layout. After watching this video, I think I have printing straight from Lightroom nailed

What is the difference between "Driver Matching" and "ICM"?
@cheo19493 жыл бұрын
Driver matching auto links A "CANON paper" to IT'S MATCHING profile. ICM when set to AUTO does the Same. BUT....It allows you use a CUSTOM profile YOU may have created for that SAME paper. I also can link a RECOMMENDED CANON media from a 3rd party paper producer and enables YOU to link to THEIR paper profile. Example: you are using Red River Polar LUSTER. You would set your media menu choice to Pro LUSTER and then in ICM/AUTO you chose open up the tab and THE RED RIVER Polar LUSTER profile you should installed and link to it. All inside the driver. Of course you would set your editing printing module to Let the Printer Control Color.

@@cheo1949 Thanks for that explanation, Jose. Very helpful. The ICM/Auto allowing you to open a tab and choose a different paper must only be available in the Pro model Canon printers. I had to borrow my brother's iP 8270 which IS a dedicated photo printer -- it does not scan or copy, just prints. ICM tab is there in the printer driver, but no options to choose a different paper. Now I know what the difference between ICM and Driver Manages color are -- thanks to you. But on this 8270 printer they are essentially the same, since the ICM does not have that advantage/option of selecting another paper. Thanks very much for that information.

You are missing a lot by not doing FB. Goggle Search OUTBACK TEST IMAGES.

I actually got a new computer, so I'm setting up my printer, etc., so this is a great refresher. One question, on the Canon site, for latest drivers, it lists a standard driver and a XPS driver. Do you have a personal preference as to what driver to use, and what is the difference between the two? Not that it makes a difference, but I'm using the Pro-10
@cheo19496 жыл бұрын
You have to install the regular driver first and then you can install the XPS driver. The XPS driver supposedly allows you to print from 16-bit images but if you have a Windows machine you really cannot do that anyway the image will get downgraded to 8-bit so I don't understand what Canon thinks they're doing but anyway I never use it. I just print out of the regular driver as I have never seen any discernible difference between Prints created through either driver. I would keep things as simple as possible right now and then you can always install the XPS driver later.

Is it worse to apply the ICM in the driver color matching as opposed to in Lightroom or Photoshop? Thanks!
@cheo19496 жыл бұрын
It just so happens that using ICM and Auto will indeed allow you to print with the correct Canon ICM profile for the Canon paper you choose.

So basically: 1.) Install driver from website 2.) Load standard paper 3.) Perform nozzle check, perform head alignment 4.) Load luster or glossy paper 5.) Print standard reference print using printer. driver to control color 6.) Adjust monitor to look like print. And the all the rest you show on setup.

First would be install and initiate printer then driver. Do that wrong and everything else will be moot.
