I wonder if writing the grams for each cartridge once filled on the side helps with future refills.

Hey Jose, just wanted to say that these are great videos and very informative - Keep up the good work! I've got quite a few PGI-72 Carts that I would like to extract ink from and fill my current set with. What's the best way to extract the ink from these carts? Would also make a great video, as I can't see that you've make one about this for this particular PGI-72 Cart?
@cheo1949

You need to make an adapter out of one of your orange clips so You can attach a syringe and extract the ink that way. Other wise it is nearly impossible.

There is no cheap way out of this. I buy 700ml carts meant for the CANON IPF PRO-2000 and higher. They will run $225 each and often up to $300 each.

@@cheo1949 Hi Jose, are there lower volume cartridges that we can use ? I use ink from pgi29 but they are not so cheap, and only 36mL, and i do not know which Grey to use. 700mL is too big for me.

@@cheo1949 I am very new to this channel. I am just getting into the world of printing, so I have been watching a lot of your videos. I recently purchased a Pro 10, color munki, I already owned a display calibrator. I actually have two (ok no, it will be 4 ) follow up questions to the gentleman above: 1- I was wondering if all the inks for these IPF pro 1000-6000 match the Pro 10? I mean are they same? If I am not mistaken, I thought I saw in some other video of yours (which I can't find now) in the comment section there was a mention about a particular ink color being different for Pro 1/10 to these IPF's. 2- For PC inks, is it still true that we have to buy OEM Red? Is there any new third party source that caught your attention? 3- Somewhere you briefly mentioned about your experience with Staples Photo paper (can't find the video again- so I have been saving videos with custom names now- in case I want to refer back), can you please share again your experience? 4- Is there a certain number of times I should replace my one set of OEM carts with another set OEM carts, before I get into 3rd party inks? Thanks, in advance. I love your videos!!

Your videos are always helpful, José. I had several problem OEM PGI-72 cartridges that I bought online, requiring 12-15 drops of ink and then a rest before they would accept more ink. Squeezing air out help somewhat. I saw a comment about using an adapter to draw air out of the bag. Any thoughts on that? Now that I have reset and completely filled the carts, as long as I keep them in regular rotation on my Pro-10, I should not have these issues going forward, is that right?
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 5 жыл бұрын
That's perfectly normal when you buy dried used cartridges. That's because the ink bag has expanded to full the only way to solve that immediately is to use a home made adapter and then suck out the air out of the ink bag so that it compresses totally and then you'll be able to fill it. All you can do at this point is to continue to squeeze air out of it and continue to refill drop by drop. Once you do that it will never happen again IF you always refill them as soon as they reach empty or near empty.

At the present time May 2020) it is safe to fill cartridges that have Canon OEM inks in them with the latest Precision Color SE inks for the Pro10S (especially the yellow). I know in the past you could not mix the colour yellow.
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is safe, We even think the new yellow is safe BUT this is NOT yet proven and so I would NOT recommend it!

NO. You use the one they will provide you with the FULL refill kit! You will need your OEM Yellow CHIP to transfer it to the cart they will provide you.

Hello Jose As I prepare to transition to PC inks I was looking at their website for ICC profiles. Under Standard Illumination D, I see only three red river papers and I see only three other papers two of those are Canon Plus semi-gloss can Canon Pro Luster luster. This suggests to me that PC only offers six papers or six ICC profiles for Standard D50. If that’s the only 6 they offer on the website that would suggest then that I have to create my own or buy them from you but create an acquired my own ICC profiles for any other papers, Canon or Red River. Is this accurate/true?
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 4 жыл бұрын
Yes yes and yes. They could not possibly offer FREE profiles in multiple viewing illumination types on dozens of papers. We have to create our own.

Hi Jose I was just listening to a radio talk show in Montreal and something came up that might be of interest to you they were discussing programmed obsolesence they mentioned that in the UK there are laws that makes mandatory that parts and schematics has to be made available for a fixed amount time for eqipement sold in the country And thus I tought that maybe service manuals for printers could may be obtained through one of your follower in the UK Maybe I am day dreaming Just thouht better to mention it of two thing I wasted 3 minutes writing or it may be feasible Friendly yours Jacques Sauvé

The ink may not be absorbed as the ink bag needs to be contested and not expanded as it will be.
