Wow! Loved this interview. I've never seen it before, so it is such a treat to see. I saw her in Vegas in 1980 at Caesar's Palace. Thanks for sharing this great clip!

This Cher interview with guess host Martin Mull is from late 1979, not 1980.. It was at the height of the disco era.

The most outrageous costume Cher ever wore was when Sonny and Cher were singing It Never Rains in Southern California. That costume freaked me and my whole family out when we saw it. I've never looked at Cher the same ever since. Very disturbing.

Seriously? I just saw the outfit you were talking about and there’s NOTHING disturbing about it.

I've never seen this before. I think her outfit is neat, all the pieces are designed to match perfectly with each other. What I find interesting is how the host just lights up right on camera. I've never seen another host for the Tonight Show except for Jay Leno, so I wouldn't know about how this guy was or what was acceptable on TV back then; It looks like he has a cigarette box sitting right on the corner of his desk.

Pat opened for CHER huh? Interesting. BTW, The video of single "Hell on wheels" was shot years before MTV. It's to bad because it would have been a big hit had MTV been around. The song didn't go anywhere and the album flopped. Had MTV been around and they played this video the song would have been a hit I'm sure.

"The Enchanted cottage"? Not in her shallow filmography. I wonder what became of that? Incidentally, the video to the song "Hell on wheels" was recorded prior to music videos which did not arrive until 1981 with the birth of "MTV". Of course this song and album flopped hard so it was never used on MTV. It is interesting now however. CHER is as much a pioneer of MTV as early "MTV" stars, Pat Benatar etc....

George Hirst Cher said she was trying to do Enchanted Cottage again about 10 years ago and yet again nothing ever became of it. At one time she also said she would be doing a remake of Mame...

Her " shallow" filmography does include an oscar win. You are pretty negative here. Not much of a Cher fan it would seem. As far as her as her album flopping, album sales and media approval are not always very good indicators of whether the music is good or not. Her work gets better and better, and she has outlasted most so called pioneers. Her song Woman's World, is topping the charts and she shows not signs of slowing down. Where is Pat Benatar these days???
