Cherbourg and the French "Super Heavy" Cruisers...are they the worst line the game?

So many underwhelming salvos where a normal heavy cruiser would hit more consistently. These guns either miss, overpen, or shatter/ricochet way too much to be a reliable line to play.

When I saw the reload on these things I knew they would be mediocre.Personally I think 18 to 20 seconds would have been more reasonable.

I really really want to like this line… but man… not near enough damage potential to compensate for lack of armor and torpedoes.😢. It’s a fun boat though! Get on a flank and use speed and concealment to land big salvos with a reload build. It’s nice, but there is better options…

These are tough ships to classify and play, most people will struggle. It's not exactly like a cruiser, not exactly a battleship or even a battlecruiser but the latter is possibly closer in description. I like ships with "all guns forward" - I have Jean Bart, Richelieu, Nelson, Collingwood, Dunkerque, and this. So it has speed, decent stealth, flanking works for it where possible, so you have to play range at first but need to close if possible, the speed then helps. Position is everything in these ships. Getting the hull upgrade early is vital too.

I use it basically as a oversized island hopper... Also I play them bow in too.. it's a difficult play style but I'm sure it'll come along. Once we get used to the odd fish lmao

I have been using the new line and I got it to do decent while using AL saint louis and it has help those ships but I do agree they could use a buff to help them out with their two main batteries accuracy and damage.

Gotta think outside the box with these ones. Concealment build with mikawa and mibelli with GOA gets you down to 8km. These guns with their pen at those ranges. And then you hit reload booster

@@whereruaaron it's kinda like bigger versions of french DDs, they can ambush and cit cruisers. Same thing, but now you can punish BBs

Like I reviewed differently with full concealment build 8.4km and all in aggressive play, this ship can really wreck havoc to enemy spawns. But not a potato ship.

It is good when boosting to a flank thats about it. I have tried to like this and the Toulon, but i just can't see why you would play these above any other cruiser in the game. I will keep them for projects and when i want a challenge lol

They have all the down sides of a cruiser and all the downsides of a battleship. I don't see the point of these. There basically dunkerques up teird.third. they feel like playing tier 5 dunkerque at tier 6 and 7

I HAVE TO DISAGREE.... Playing it with more traverse and concealment would open more doors for ambushing... It's strength is Ambushing and cheeky broadsides... EVERY CC has a 80+ wlr in it, few higher... just saying, you have to go full tard sometimes and maximize it's quirks, LOWEST CC CONCIELEMENT IN GAME 8.3, and one of the fastest as well... DD main, it just makes seance

BB caliber guns need to be consistent or have a good fire rate in order to be effective, but I feel like this like has neither. It seems like they suffer from Graf Spee Syndrome, if that makes any sense

I’ve never used the tier 7 but I played it a couple times, one game I was I got 1 tapped from 11km and by it and the game he shot like 8 salvos at a friendly cruiser and did like 20k dmg at most very inconsistent

Can't really disagree with you on any of these points. That being said, my first game in it was absolute trash. But once you figure out its weaknesses, you can work it. Extremely high floor type ship. I've been having monster games in it since then.

Got the Cherbourg night before last and played the worst 6 games I've ever played in it. The underwhelming accuracy with a 16/3 commander, the dispersion at range is horrible, its AP while at close ranges 'less than 7K' is "decent" the dispersion makes it impossible to do anything other than bow tank. Ill never play it again. Absolute trash ship.

I wouldn't think they're the worst line. Because literally Charles Martel & S. Louis is just awful heavy cruiser which explains why we have newer line but yet being powercrept

They don’t have much utility, yea, but Chuck Martin is fun and evil if played correctly. It‘s fast, it’s nimble, it‘s consistent. You can dodge everything but that’s where you need skill. New cruiser players will hate it, experienced cruiser players will love it. The other ship (i forgot the name because of how irrelevant it is) isn’t worth talking about because it’s not that big of a upgrade from Chuck Martin like most other T8 ships. Especially now that we have Henri IV, there’s no reason to play that

@@xor0001 exactly I sold S.L when I got done with the segment you need it to get through with the Henri lV, And 25million was quite hefty for something that isn't good at All. And Charles it can occasionally be a pest of a cruiser but squooshed at the same time.
