Love the teachings, it is hard to comprehend since all I have ever spoken is english. My ancestors were cherokee and the language was lost since having to hide from the Europeans. Thanks so much for all you are doing to help me bring back my families native tongue.

14:05 is that the right syllabary for ᎤᏪᎧ? Should be Ꭴ instead of Ᏻ? I just listened to the explanation. Makes sense now because the "Y" sound of Ᏻ is needed for negation.

My name is Paula Rodriguez I have been told all my life that I'm Cherokee native american. Out of the years I have been trying to find a way I can speak Cherokee language. I was never been tot I had to figure it out myself. I should of been added to the cherokee tribe but in the 1970's my mother told me she couldn't add me. I have been told my real dad and my great grandma was full blood Cherokee native American.

Question: When Wade introduces the word for "cat" at the beginning of the lesson, he pronounces it as "wes," leaving off the second vowel, but then when he shows the picture of the man with the cat, he pronounces "wesa" fully. Can anyone tell me why that is?
@thetobyntr9540 Жыл бұрын
It's an example; he's showing how it can be said, and it can be said both ways. The writing he was reading from also specifically said "wé sa" and it's best to reduce confusion in reading.

At 26:38 ish, Wade pronounces ᎤᏔᎾ as utan, ᎤᏔᎾᏍ he pronounces as utanas. So whatever happened to the last vowel in ᎤᏔᎾ? Its spelling is like "utana".

I couldn't find the exact word you were pertaining to, but he said before that if you add an S it makes it a question, that may be it
@Zdrange032 жыл бұрын
"i" or "a" can be dropped at the end of words (hardly if at all for the other vowels). But when a suffix/clitic is added at the end, the vowel needs to resurface. Utan(a) but utanas.

No, the Romans basically created Christianity, otherwise it would have stayed a part of Judaism and they do not believe in the same afterlife, hell is not a place you go after death (it's really a state of mind that you are kept in by hating things and wanting what you cant have) and its used to scare people into doing what they want. They put together a bunch of powerful sounding words from a cult to wage war using a splintering empire, and the splinters saw how useful it was in creating a lower class that was subservient like sheep in the middle ages, "the lord is our shepherd" gives the power to those who interpret the lords word. The splinters of Rome imitated it including the British and the Americans. The bible was only available in latin and only understood by the clergy for the longest time, and even today most churches don't ever go over the whole bible in an open and easily understood way. The British used it as a tool of oppression and when the British calling themselves Americans wanted to erase the uniqueness of the indigenous people of America they made them convert and then they made it illegal to even speak the language. So no, I will not accept a religion that has been forced upon my ancestors from both sides of the Atlantic, this injustice and genocide will stop with my generation. I will teach my children the truth about Christianity and they will learn a spirituality that is not corrupted, they will learn how what christians call God comes from their collective thoughts and actions, and that the spirits of the natural world including your ancestors are really what's worth worshipping. Your religion says the world is ours to use, this is a corrupt belief that has almost completely destroyed the ecosystems that our ancestors once stewarded into prosperity and we all need to understand our place in the cycles of life as well as how we can live in harmony with this rare living world that we ride on the back of.
