I am happy that this has happened in my life time. Being of mixed ancestry, I have had the blessing of access to French by way of high school, and AAVE by way of family. Unfortunately I have had to teach myself Irish Gaelic, and Cherokee (now taking online classes via the Cherokee Nation), and have not even been able to start Blackfoot yet (living now in Europe. Great Grandma lost to Alchoholism, and Grandfather murdered by a jealous lover). I hope to become fully fluent in Irish and Cherokee.

i wonder what the word is for the checkered collar worn by the flute player? I saw checkered sashes on the statues at the museum. The sash pattern is identical to the pattern I saw on the underside of black snakes and brown snakes too, in southeastern Kentucky. I think these are what we call corn snakes. There is one about 30 years old in one of my houses. He is friendly. A girl who lived in the house named him Joey. He was about 4+ ft long now. So seeing the collar made me wonder if there is a word for this checkered snake skin, or perhaps a collar made from this skin? The checks on the sash vary in size, same as on this snake. I got a real good look at him after he tried to climb up a glass patio door that I had installed the day before. I think he wanted inside to chase mice. I was inside the house and wasable to see his belly through the glass.

There also needs to be functioning K-12 immersion schools like for Hawaiian and Maori. I also think that Ireland can learn from this. In Luxembourg, though the language is not used in the Media (German) or the legal system (French), all children receive elementary education in Luxembourgian. As a result the language survives as the language of the country and home, with exception of the immigrant populations. I think the language revitalization programs can learn a lot from Luxembourg
