Its not the traditional way but. You can use a cotton. On the end of the dart instead of thistle weed, In case you can't find any,,,

My grandfather told me they used cotton and their darts were fat lighter pine. They hunted birds with them in the late 1800s and early 1900s. He was born in 1886.
