I get you, I'm a strong Ukraine supporter, too, but I believe Polivoks can be enjoyed as a part of synth engineering history. Same as with Cherry Audio statement: my enthusiastic review doesn't mean any support for russia's government and putin's actions. I live in Poland and I know what russia is, my family, which comes from the East, also knows it very well. When the war broke out, I asked all of putin's actions supporters to leave my channel.

Hi! In the mid 1990's in the former USSR republics you could buy a Polyvoks for pennies. I got my Polyvoks (in perfect condition) for 12 bottles of vodka in one of the former Palaces of Culture.

In the 90s, during a vacation in Romania, in a shop in Tulcea that sold everything from peeled tomatoes to string to chainsaws, they had a polyvoks in the window for a few cents, 3 things prevented me from buying it, the fact that I was walking around with 2 backpacks full and that's it and the writing in Cyrillic.,but I feared those less, in the end I would have understood what did what... and at that moment carrying it around, it weighed as if it were bulletproof... Thank goodness I recovered it thanks to Cherry Audio

I’m not a super synth fanatic, but I love synths with character, and I’ve never heard anything as dirty as the MS-20 …until now. I am going to waste so much time making this one scream :-)

Never heard a Polivoks in person, never likely to, but even i can tell from perusing some clips of it on KZbin(that weren't recorded with a cam mic!!, lol)that this sounds absolutely nothing like it. Cherry Audio builds all their synths out of elements from their Cherry Modular environment and whatever framework and circuit modeller they have built around it. all their stuff sounds practically the same. same bad envelopes and modulation, same cheesy waveshaping, in the filter loop and pre and post, same VA like phasing between oscillators (probably a lookup table) . listening to the real deal, i can kinda see why nobody has attempted to model it as of yet. it's at a level of dirt and chaos just from the raw oscillator sound that would never likely get the circuit model to run in realtime, or you'd have to optimise it so much that you'd completely neuter the sound. It's ok to like it as its own thing though. just don't be claiming "this is the one", lol

Well said :) I believe, that recreating the Polivoks as it really is nowadays would result in creating an instrument simply unusable: every single element of this machine would be drifting. Oscillators pitch, mixer, filter, LFO, envelopes. What Cherry Audio provided is a "dream unit" with perfect stability (though with some programmed imperfections). What I can tell you for sure that the filter on this synth comes REALLY close to the real Polivoks circuitry. I owned one and I can easily claim that. Cheers!

Absolutely everything in your comment is patently untrue. As the author of Atomika, I can tell you that NOTHING in the software is borrowed from anything else (as is the case for all the plugins I've done for Cherry). Unless you have a Polivoks right next to you and spend 10-15 minutes matching any given sound, you cannot make a statement like "this sounds nothing like it". The fact that you are making apples and oranges comparisons going through terrible KZbin audio renders all opinions like that invalid. Also, the oscillators in the Polivoks are quite stable and not a source of dirt or chaos. And in conclusion, Atomika is capable of MORE dirt and chaos than the original. I think if you are into that sort of thing and gave it a free demo, you'd actually like it.

@@mrbmodules2938 I don't care who borrows or doesn't borrow what from whom or how a real Polivoks sounds or which apple does not match which orange… I just bought this (with Chroma and Sines in the Cherry-Pick-3 deal), and this things is stunning, crazy and massive fun. It makes sounds I haven't heard any other synth do. And yes, maybe if you spent enough time with one of the big multi-synths (Synthmaster, Pigments, Zebra and the like) you might come up with similar sounds, but… damn, this is a one-button wonderbox of instant fatness gratification. It's been long ago I had this much fun for the price of a few pizzas. So: kudos to you, dear author. This one is gold.

I was sitting watching this this video and making the exavt same presets with my GForce Oberheim OBX VST.. This synth is not special at all! Only thing I couldn't replicate was the insanely high resonance! But who needs that anyway? It sounds absolutely horrendeous! xD lol
