Thanks for your amazing info. 8.55 When we sampled the freshwater fish of waga forest (SL) streams, we found puntius titteya (females) and Rasbora Dandia together in the same place, just like in your tank

Great video, thank for the info! Just got these guys, they are sooo beautiful and peaceful! And I actually find females even more pleasing to the eye. I love them! I have 8 of them (right now in a 10 gallon quarantine tank) and they actually school instead of shoal! Maybe that will change once I put them in my main 35 gallon.

Hi Terry: Another great video from life experience keeping this fish - not stuff regurgitated from the internet. My experience keeping the Cherry Barbs is like yours, hanging out at the lower level, get along great with other tank mates, tough as nails, easy to feed and care for. I have 8 in a 75 gallon with 8 Odessa barbs, 7 Denison Barbs and 1 Rainbow shark. I have all males and they display to each other occasionally and are not schoolers. They are my favorite fish - I’m starting my second 75 gallon and plan to have Cherry Barbs, Black-tailed Rasboras and Panda Garra. Thanks and keep the videos coming.

Really like your spotlights. I'm in the dreamy first tank planning phase, and your info is quickly becoming a favorite source. On a side note: I understand why aquarists go for color, but I also think it can be overdone. I like the slightly more subtle kind as it looks more natural and dare I say, sophisticated/elegant. I don't want my fish to look like bubblegum. I'm slowly compiling a favorites list, and this definitely goes on there. It may be a good fit with Trichopsis pumila (Sparkling/Pygmy Gourami) which has a tendency to be the species at the forefront of my mind. Cheers.

Thaanks, excellent video! Watching my three maroon coloured males, swimming around each other in a tight group, at mid level. I can't see my three females, which must be swimming along the bottom of the tank. One of my most favourite fish.

After you mentioned that they like to be in dimmer light, I did it right away. They all came out from the plants and are swimming in pools of 3-8 at the top of the tank. It does look like they are all female, is that ok? They look happy. But I don't have much knowledge on this.

Is it a good idea to have a small school of them in a tank with lots of chili rasboras and dwarf shrimp? Also, can they live in a ph of 6.5 and a set temp of 72 degrees Fahrenheit?

Great video! I am looking forward to bringing some into a new 30 gallon tank...I tend to have more females than males as the females usually suffer harassment, lol! My two questions...do I need to keep observing this ratio with the cherry barbs and what would be the optimal minimum I should acquire, considering they'll live in community with other fish? Thank you so much!
@TerryL2635 жыл бұрын
sorry I didn't see this earlier. As with anything in this hobby it depends. If you have no interest in breeding them I would 5 males and no females.

Can you think of a blue freshwater fish about the size of a cherry barb or platy, or smaller i could put in my 20 gallon? Thanks!
@LaughterChief2 жыл бұрын
Do you want a schooling fish?
@squirrelattackspidy2 жыл бұрын
@@LaughterChief Not necessarily. Every fish I put into my tank dies. I clean the tank every 7 days and there's only one platy in there. I have no ammonia or nitrites. And I have either zero or 5ppm on nitrates. Very low bioload with one fish.
@LaughterChief2 жыл бұрын
@@squirrelattackspidyInteresting. Ok im not really sure about what's going on in your tank, I don't think you have to clean your tank weekly. My weekly task for my aquarium is just a 30-35% water change (sometimes less if I'm lazy). I have 2 fish recommendations for you: mollies (and/or platies) and blue ram cichlid. I have a pair of Dalmatian mollies, a pair of saffron mollies, a pair of electric blue ram cichlid and 6 cherry barbs in my 20 gallon tall. It's planted as well. I use filtered water (if I'm doing a heavy water change like 80% water change I use 60% filtered water and 20% tap) . I still use the right dosage of anti chlorine, bio filter and nitrate stabilizer. I have never exactly touched the gravel and I clean the filter occasionally to avoid disrupting the beneficial bacteria. Had this tank for 8 months. No unexpected deaths. Also the mollies clean the algae on the gravel and leaves. If u just want 1 blue fish, get the blue ram cichlid. Or get a pair if u want to breed. Very hardy fish.
