Hey guys just found your channel been growing and raising fish since I was 8. Now in my 40s love all the 411 you guys share. I just moved to Ft. Lauderdale from Texas and looking to find some local breeders you reccomend. I'm finding a bunch of koi and cichlids in the area. But would like to find more of these guppies you have in this video. Any info you feel you can share would be greatly appreciated..👍

Agree 100% on the gold white clouds. Also, they're harder to find, but the Vietnamese white cloud is a very beautiful fish. They are slightly smaller and the fins on the males are pretty spectacular.

9/10 times when a new fishkeeper thinks they want a goldfish for their beginner setup the actual fish they should be keeping is rosy barbs or white clouds, no joke. People need to get these fish's names out there.
@V1kte
@V1kte 3 жыл бұрын
@@FishFosh That's how it went for me. I thought of goldfish, but while my tank was cycling I did some more research and went for long fin rosy barbs :). My favourite thing about them is how social they are, they come to the front glass, they take food from hands, etc. The only thing I don't like about them is their violent mating, each time they spawn the females end up with shredded fins, missing scales, etc. Usually it all ends well, but one female recently died because she lost too many scales on her belly and it got infected. Right now another female has missing scales on the same exact spot - so far she seems healthy, but it worries me.

@@V1kte maybe try bring the ratio of females up a bit in comparison to males. Like 2 to 3 girls for each boy.

@@nabeeldraws506 My tank is fully stocked and I have 3 males, so I can't reach that ratio without overstocking it or giving away at least one male.

I love Congo tetras and the Kribensis! I work in a pet store where we have both, and a lot other fish as well. Now I've been taking care of our aquariums and learned a lot, and also got my favourites, so I'm reading as much as possible, planning to get an aquarium later this year. Hopefully with Kribensis and Congo tetras. I really want a beautiful aquarium and also look a lot for aquascaping. I hope it all will turn into something beautiful once I have my fishes :)

Very nice list. I agree with everything except the Congo Tetras. I loved them until I actually kept them myself. They are easily the most disruptive fish I've kept in any community tank. I had 3 very mature pairs, and the males were constantly racing back and forth sparing each other. They would spin around and mess up the plants trying to impress the females. They would also spawn every day even though the conditions weren't ideal for them. I thought that was great until I actually tried to breed them. Once out of the community tank and in the breeding tanks they stayed stressed out, and I eventually lost a pair. They couldn't handle being alone in pairs. I know people love them, but I doubt I will ever keep them again.

I had the opportunity to keep a small group of Bolivian Rams several years ago and I have to say, they've become my favorite species of South American Dwarf Cichlids due to the ease of keeping and due to the fact they look more like the larger species of Earth-eater. It's a shame fish stores in my area don't sell them that often.

I just got myself some Bolivians and I absolutely adore them. I didn't even remotely intend to pick up any kind of Ram when I went into the shop because my parameters/temperature don't fit any of the "popular" Rams. I was basically just telling the shopkeeper "well I'm looking for something similar to Rams but there is no way I can actually keep Rams," and then he showed me the Bolivians and they perfectly fit my water parameters which none of the others do. Literally, 1 minute after I put them in my tank they already colored up some and went up to the glass-front to inspect me. Threw in some food and they immediately started chowing down on it and after that, they went exploring every inch of the tank. Such amazing, outgoing, peaceful fish!

Had an Odessa Barb survive the coldest San Diego, California winter a couple of years ago outside. Amazing color when I first removed him due to plenty algae and larvae. Kept him in an unheated tank indoors for a short time with Sterbi Corys. Had to put him into his own tank, he would tear up the cats. Odessa Barbs need to be kept in a school of at least 6 or more to be most peaceful. Was planning to add them to a 55 gallon. He passed away before I could order more since they are hard to find locally.

Great video! Nice footage. One of my favorite underrated fish is trigonostigma espei, or lambchop rasbora. They hang out mostly at the top but are fine getting food at the bottom of my 45 Tall. They breed easily and they're sturdy. They have brilliant color, and they're very chill. Some of my fish are still alive from my initial order from Rachel O'Leary in 2017! They've been breeding happily ever since and I only do basic tank maintenance, no fancy extra effort to maintain the plants. They are FUN to watch!!

Another branch of barb are the long fin green tiger barbs. I bought 2 for 10 each, fully grown and chunky and they look amazing. They do chase each other sometimes but that's because I need more. Now the thing is that I have not seen them other than that one time I bought them. I've asked many local fish stores about them and they're currently rare. I'm just waiting until I can get a small school of them and I'm sure they'll look amazing.

One of my favirite is the Long-finned Rosey Barb! If you love long-finned Comet type goldfish or Koi but don't want the huge size or mess then this is the fish for you. We have a huge tank at work that I oversee with these plus other community fish and they keep to themselves, are thorough when scavenging for any left over food (they are fed very well but are good cleaners too) and look gorgeous with their reds with black top fins. Right now we only have males but the previous batch did include some females and they were beautiful as well. I could sit and watch them for hours. They rather remind me a little of Bettas, also a favorite of mine.
