Played through the first release way back when. Rarely the case a game gets me so immersed. Unfortunately the characters lost some of their resemblance of popular mob- actors like Marlon Brando or Joe Pesci etc. But still one of the better Enhanced Editions out there. I have to say that the Definitive Edition is pretty cool and some mechanics that have been added are very good as well but in the end for story telling Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven was better. Even the main developer of Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven and Mafia 2 [(Daniel Vávra) In Mafia 2 half of the content he made was cutted off because of publisher were pushing them to release it. Then he quit 2K and after some years started working on Kingdom: Come Deliverence and he has nothing to do with this remake] said that the game is pretty good and some mechanics are incredible but ending of the Definitive Edition misses the main message of the game so he was pretty sad and confused about it when he was streaming with the biggest streamer of CZ (Agraelus) its recorded on youtube but its in CZ.

What I found interesting about original, and remake is that Morello in original even though he is smaller and does not look that muscular as remake version and looks way older did not need a wrench to smash someone's face in and beat him to death. Big boy Morello did. Big boy Morello would be scarier if he killed the boxer with his hands (and the car) just like in original.

As someone who has the Mafia series as their most played, DE is easily the most soulless and weakest in the franchise. 1, 2, and even 3 (despite its issues) were all unique. DE has an identity crisis and is a bad mixture of 3 and 1 thus ending up being worse than both.

In my opinion, I prefer Mafia 2 and 3 because the stories are good, mafia 3 has a good amount of free roam, the graphics aren't bad especially since the 2nd one was in I think 2006. Also Vito and Lincoln can be mobsters, Tommy sucks at it and you can see multiple times. Vito did have his moments where he went against mobs for personal reasons but he still did way better than Tommy

@@TheJassJournals Although I do not deny they got better reputation recently because they put so much focus into Mafia definitive edition but I still prefer Mafia 2 and 3 because of the story and gameplay it provides as well as a better free roam. Mafia 2 you can rob, buy, shoot, and even bring NPCs from missions to help. Mafia 3 has a greater free roam because of the DLCs and side missions getting a feel of what those people who used to kick you around now controlling a CITY

I originally played mafia 2 a Yr or so after it came out I enjoyed it was different and it was my favorite game of all time 3 was ok and liked that vito made a return then 2 months ago I bought the definitive collection as it was on sale so I thought why not never playing number 1 I wasn't expecting much bit I've got to say mafia 2 with the glitches lost my favorite game as number 1 is the Don of all 3 of the games I fell in love with it haha
