Exactly. There’s nothing wrong with her voice per se, she has a gentle and almost tender vocal delivery, much like her speaking voice. It’s just not suited for the more energetic pop Girls Aloud did.

The thing with Cheryl’s voice is it hasn’t got any power. She’s not even terribly out of tune or anything. But she struggles to hit high or really powerful notes. Being a mezzo soprano, her range is more lower down or in the middle of the vocal register. But when she was in Girls Aloud she was encouraged (against her wishes) to try and reach higher notes which her voice just wasn’t capable of producing. She often sounds almost strangled and strained on a lot of GA songs, and that’s why. Her actual singing voice, a lot like her regular speaking voice, is more gentle, soft, almost throaty. Music like soft ballads are more in her range and capabilities.

Cheryl worked on getting a voice coach over the years and she did great solo career.. Might not be as good as nadine but she did well on her own

She tried. The positives: She's a stunning girl with a smile that can light up a room. And the song choice was actually creative and one that hasn't been done to death. The negatives: Pretty much everything else. Off key, off rhythm, no control, poor breath support. If they were just going to let her in the group based on her looks and star potential, they should have saved everyone's time and hearing and not have her sing every week.
