Chess player here. Garde clock has very good reputation among chess players. This model was used also in the match of the century - world championship match between Fischer and Spasskij in Reykjavik 1972

Well there was not much to see. Just me selecting a little brass bushing and pushing the mainspring back on.

The Garde clock were definitely the tournament standard and visually one of the best looking chess clocks but I didn't think they were the best. The big boxes always sounded a bit rattling and seeing the inside it doesn't surprise me now. I found the German Jaerger clocks to be mechanically ,uch, much better. Maybe not looking as fancy but they had a solid feel to them when playing, that the Garde lacked.

It is basically just two alarmclock like movements. Not awefull but not too quickly either. Jaerger ones I have never layed my hand on before.
