A new series is launching today: "Coach Reacts to Student Analysis"! In this series, my subscribers send me videos where they analyze one of their rapid or classical games. They discuss their move choices, evaluations, calculations, fears, and psychological considerations. I will react to their analysis, pausing at key moments to address and correct any thought process issues.
The first episode features Sayed from Germany. He recently played and won an over-the-board rapid game. The game showcases interesting patterns in the English Opening, demonstrating how to create weaknesses around the enemy king while immobilizing their minor pieces. Sayed concludes the game with a checkmate.
If you enjoy this format, please send me your game analysis videos. And there is no shame: you can also send me your chess crimes! I would also love to hear your feedback on how this series can improve.

I suggest you ask people to submit 2 games (a loss and a win). It’s very tempting to send great games, but we probably learn more from the loss. That way they still get to celebrate and share the success while gaining learning opportunities too.

That is a very good idea, but the video would be too long that way I think. Even a single game tends to last for than half an hour, and many people shy away from watching videos that are too long (unfortunately).

Hi! Sayed here. I am really touched by the nice replies! So, about the opening choice, yes when I meant that I studied his games and decided to play c4, what I meant is that I have not found any single game of him online here he has either played c4 or played against it, so I wanted to put him out of this opening book. As many of the people here mentioned! Yes! It is "early attach" not "ally attack". Although ally attack sounds more exotic! xD About Qd2 I agree, I could have gone for it straight away! I have tried to calculate some responses of black in this position. None of them looked scary, so I decided to go for a3 because that will bind the knight and he would feel suffocated and the chance of him making a mistake would probably go up! About sending some games where I lost, sure! I have no problem sending them. The only thing is that I would probably only like to send tournament games of mine. And also the latest games. Currently, I am playing this tournament in my club. So far I have not lost any game, I will send if I lose any. Although I am not hoping for it! :D I only think, that for me sending only tournament games makes more sense, because those are the games where I have some specific preparation. I do not know if sending some casual online game would make any sense! Although I can send maybe home training games of mine! But all in all, thanks a lot Can for giving me the chance! And thanks to everyone for their kind words and valuable suggestions!

Thank you so much Sayed, both for analysing your game and your kind reply to my comments in the video! Otb games are definitely preferred, as stakes/focus are usually higher there than online games. But let's see how many videos I will receive from other subscribers, there is no rush :) And apparently you are not losing many games anyways :)

I think maybe Qd7 is designed to play Nc6 and meet Bxc6 with Qxc6. But that's ridiculous because white would never play Bxc6 and also Bxc6 bxc6 is a great for black - dominating the c3 knight.

Brilliant idea for a series. What makes a game a good candidate for submission?
@Dr.CansClinic

Thank you! I think it should include some mistakes from your side. Complexity, trade offs, where you felt a little thorned. Your evaluations are also important to include. Or perhaps the presence of some engine lines that you want a human interpreter to understand :)

The only threat posed by the early Qd7 in the first game was Qg4 after knight e2, which would sort of restrict white's development a bit and also hits d4 and g5. It's not terrible but it's not solid either. At 7:50 he says "early attack" not "alley attack", his accent slips on the long e-sound and makes it sound like an a. Although finding an alley attack might be useful in chess! At 16:40, there is no question that Qd2 to Qd6 should be calculated. It is probably a very forcing line that black can't counter. I think he didn't choose it because he didn't name any 5 to 7 ply proper lines for black's best counters.
@Dr.CansClinic
@Dr.CansClinic 3 ай бұрын
Thank you as always! :) I agree with your comment for 16:40, although if you are short of time, I think it is totally justified to simply play Re1 in that position, without bothering to calculate Qh6. We have all the long-term cards, our king is safe, and the rook lift becomes an option now. No risk policy (the risk being we are sacrificing our rook on f1). But we should obviously work on our calculation skills to gain confidence in those situations and not miss a forcing win :)
