Yes, there is a player vs player mode so you can just play together and it will referee.

Just bought from Chess House 1st time I turned on the lights on the squares don't go out even though all the pieces are on the correct squares. Also, the lower left of the computer screen has figures for Rook H1, Knight G1 but they are on the correct squares. So when I press new game it doesn't work. So I am not able to use the computer. Could somebody please help me resolve this issue? Thanks.

You don't need a computer. It plays as shown without one. It comes with UK adapter. For those that want to use a computer or play online, the ChessLink adds bluetooth connectivity.

Recently (a batch in 2019) some Exclusives have had trouble with one or more flickering squares that interrupts the use of the board. This is being resoled by Millennium now. and if you bought yours at Chess Houses and have a unit with this bug, then contact us for a replacement.

Yes, it has extra queens and handles promotion fine.

You promote pawns by removing the pawn from the 7th rank, and placing the promoted piece on the 8th rank. The computer recognizes which piece it is automatically.
