If her hand is on or behind the rail no way they think it is a check especially if she is touching her own arm.... Not in any room I have ever seen you need to touch the table and the rail is not the table 3: Official Terminology and Gestures Official betting terms are simple, unmistakable, time-honored declarations like bet, raise, call, fold, check, all-in, complete, and pot (pot-limit only). Regional terms may also meet this test. Also, players must use gestures with caution when facing action; tapping the table is a check. It is the responsibility of players to make their intentions clear: using non-standard terms or gestures is at player’s risk and may result in a ruling other than what the player intended.

can someone explain how top set is ahead(43%) over the straight(36%) on the flop?
@MarcoAshford
@MarcoAshford 5 ай бұрын
Because the other player’s A6 of hearts. In a heads up VS 55 he is ahead. But multiway Lower straight can’t improve. Any cards that will improve 2 other people come down will make A2 lose. Now he has to avoid 2, 3,4,5,7, avoid running hearts. If you play 4 card PLO, you will understand. It’s brutal and you are never ahead with a dry “suker” straight on flop. A premium hand in PLO or multiway Holdem is a nut with a redraw to bigger hand. Lots lots of people lost money in those suker straight trap. He could be stone cold dead already if others have 67 or 62

When you know 7 players have had 2 cards each, and none of them have a card on the board, what is left in the deck and with 2 cards to come makes it more likely for pairing the board or making the other straights that are bigger hit. When you play live, you don't know other players cards are, a straight is usually going to be the favorite.

So I don't know a ton about Poker but, in the first hand she flips her cards over so the other player can see before deciding to call. How is this not fishing for a reaction from the other player to decide whether to call or not? Is that not frowned upon or is that just a part of the game?
@Jeffmanjones

on flop if you only take those two hands into calculator A2 is clear favorite. i used random online calc with all hands+dead cards and its pretty close to their numbers. depends on the calc and how they value tie's etc. i guess. but yeah i'd rather sit with the wheel on flop than set in this situation (not knowing other cards obv.)
@GetMeThere1
@GetMeThere1 11 ай бұрын
@@RemoteWipe Thanks for searching that out (I'm too lazy). I guess -- with the "family pot" aspect of this deal -- enough cards came out to show that it was MORE LIKELY THAN NOT for the board to pair (or hit the last 5). I still have a bit of trouble believing that (and I can't think of ANY OTHER logic that's relevant). Can you think of another way to put it? I'm gonna watch the video again. For 555 to be more likely to win than a made straight, it has to be more likely for the board to pair than NOT pair (plus the last 5). Is that logic correct or not?
@RemoteWipe
@RemoteWipe 11 ай бұрын
@@GetMeThere1 yeah i think the same so i was stoked enough to check it and i also dont grasp how the dead and live cards contribute to the apparently higher chance for the board to pair. must hope someone with a better understanding (how their calc works) chimes in.

@GetMeThere1 11 ай бұрын
Hold on, LOL. At 3:14 the new hand begins with the flop already showing (3,4,5) and only two player's cards being shown. They skipped showing pre-flop. But if we watch all cards from that point we see: 345, A6, KT, 77, 86, 55, A2, J9. BB and CO not shown (so folded pre-flop). So at 4:19 we have seen 17 cards: AA, K, J, T, 9, 8, 77, 6, 555, 4, 3, 2, and 35 cards we have not seen. Odds of hitting quads are 1/35 + 1/34 (0.058). Odds of hitting board pair of 3 or 4 = 6/35 + 6/34. Odds of hitting a 3 AND a 4 are (6/35 * 3/34) = 0.088. That comes to 0.058 + 0.171 + 0.176 + 0.088 = 0.496. If we favorably assume (for 555) that BB and CO did NOT have 3, 4, or 5. Then odds are 0.066 + 0.194 + 0.2 + 0.1 = 0.56, which means MORE LIKELY for 555 to win! Surprising. But that's ONLY because we eliminated 21 cards from the deck, none of which were 3, 4, or 5. Your odds of hitting FH or Quads knowing only your OWN two cards + flop, with a set, are: quads (1/47 + 1/46), one pair (6/47 + 6/46), two pairs (6/47 * 3/46) are 0.022 + 0.128 + 0.130 + 0.061 = 0.341 EDIT: Slight correction: The odds I gave for hitting a 3 or 4 actually INCLUDES the odds for hitting both, making the fourth item in my additions NOT NECESSARY. That means, with 35 cards removed odds of quads or 1 or 2 boards pairs is: 0.40588. With 21 cards removed is: 0.45914. *SO NO! The odds of making quads or one board pair or two board pairs is NOT greater than half, therefore the graphic is INCORRECT.*

@@GetMeThere1 need to find the original footage to see the missing hands. im not good at math so using the "cardplayer" online calc gives (postflop): assuming the missing hands are 34 and 45: A2 36,99% and 55: 22,80% assuming the missing hands are 34 and 10 8: A2: 30,97% and 55: 32,69%. releasing 34 and using 10 8 and 92: A2 at 21,08% and 55 at 41,94% (!) burning the case 5 using 10 8 and 52: A2 at 24,09% and 55 at 37,20% (!) really weird to wrap ones hand around but math can't lie i guess.

Over sufficiently many hands luck is fair to everyone. Luck doesn't give anyone advantage over long term.

All the plays from Botez involves holding AA or KK, set/straight on the flop... Thats not "good plays"

I mean for half a decade it was the tournament meta, nitty poker wins a lot when everyone else is playing stupid or crazy Pros have moved past it but you can't say she's a bad player when she doesn't make many bad plays. She's literally playing with fellow non-pro celebrities and she knows how to beat them.

She is still solid even though she's hesitant in spots where she should not be. Just lacks some experience. Helps that she's easily the smartest player on the table 99 out of 100 times.

She really misplayed that had with the AAs she should not have flipped her pocket rockets, she should have given a min-raise in the hopes he would come over the top trying to buy the pot, with that board, she should have felt she had the best hand and try to get him to try and buy it befoee slamming the doors on him, worst case scenario she min-raises him and he folds, but at that point he was pot committed when kooking at a min-raise.

WFM Alexandra Botez? Sure, not SGM level, but still very much would be considered a professional. She played 7 fide rated classical games and 9 blitz during the May ranking period so still plays professionally (occasionally)
