Respect for including the game. Chess always humbling

That's what happens when you miss two TTs in a row. Rust starts to appear. Anyway, how "very" dare you allow life to get in the way of my weekly fix?! 😂

@DavidCuttingsАй бұрын
Many thanks for the game-and especially the analysis + take away. Have indeed missed you the last two weeks but meanwhile have enjoyed some of the older TTs again. They continue to be a source of respite in hard times (I live in a United States gone haywire), truly helpful, educational, and encouraging-and a tremendous amount of fun. Your generosity is very much appreciated.

The "Oops" Variation. I play it myself in a number of different openings.

I learned something too. I have occasionally played early Bg5 systems, and in these types of positions (before your e5) often play Qc1 to a) defend the b2 pawn and b) eye up the h6 square, but I really must pay more attention to how that frees up the g4 square for the enemy knight.

I checked this friskierdingo guys' games on OpeningTree, and he has two other games in his history where he has reached the position after ...Qxa1. That doesn't prove that he's not cheating, but definitely possible that he just has the moves memorized up to that point.
@XAVargasX0206Ай бұрын
Everyone shouldn't just jump to the conclusion that he was cheating just because he beat a gm
@marcrob100Ай бұрын
Yes he got into a winning position while still in his theory
@maferreira1984Ай бұрын
Definitely. I have several winning lines memorized against garbage openings (e.g. Englund, Zilbermints and Halloween Gambits etc.) and I'll just blitz them out in seconds because the less horrible continuations are basically forced, while the worst ones are easily met with no-brainers. My personal repertoire against the Tromp is not bad either.

I've all but given up on chess - Just got sick of not improving and being stuck at my 1600 level. Still love to watch Simon's content though, he's always been one of the best streamers/youtubers. A GingerGM speedrun video is an auto like from me.

Come on, that was clearly a cheater, smart cheater but a cheater after all. Did not closed account yet, but look at his rapid stats... Please Simon start a speedrun on lichess

I don't think he cheated. Someone mentioned he had played this line before, he simply knew the opening theory and Simon blundered hard, the rest of the game isn't that hard to convert when you are two healthy pawns up.
