Chess analysis of my first 4NCL game of 2024.
I played a funky Dutch opening and a variation that Richard Rapport has been championing. This is still an opening secret, but probably not for long...
My opponent was the talented Stanley Badacsonyi, who is surely a future GM.

Thanks for the game! I probably shouldn’t have castled as quickly as I did and your attack was crushing!! 😅

After the Dutch materialized and then Nf6, did you consider Bg5 to chop? Have you used/explored that line? Just wondering if that's a good trade while playing a KIA.

The Rapport Dutch is covered in both "Playing the Stonewall Dutch" (Quality Chess 2020) by GM Nikola Sedlak, and in the interesting repertoire "The English Defence" (Everyman Chess 2023) by GM José González.

Great to see this great game! I used to play the Stonewall all the time but having learned from your instruction, I've been going with the Classical. Now with this idea, I might brush off the dust and keep my options open. Great stuff as always Simon!

3:45 Actually, ...h7-h5 is not really that "new" in the structure; - I still vividly remember a lesson in a Rowson book, maybe 15 years ago, where Harry on his rampage made it all the way to h3, with some serious crampage of White's position.

Looking forward to the new course, oh if you do it please go into what to do if while plays the double stonewall. I used to play the regular stonewall as black but playing vs the double stonewall was painful. You do not get to play all your fun stonewall stuff and white can really make the game very boring.

I answer 1.d4 with 1..., c5 every single game. Then i play g6, fianchetto and go into a modern benoni, but i delay Nf6, completely avoiding the very uncomfortable 'flick knife' variation (even though Rapport recently proved that it is playable). I do give white a ton of freedom to develop however they like, but i just love the benoni structure. I do wonder why c5 is so unpopular on move one. These crazy dutches are also amazing! Awesome game

This opening reminds me of the King's Indian. The engine is very critical of it, and gives an advantage for white. But for a humans, isn't so easy to come up with the right ideas when the clock is ticking.

But this line is just not good after h4, so not sure how do you plan to make a course about it. As with preparation, it is not playable. I´ve made quick research and only playable h5 in these positions is here, which improves the main lines. Who wants to learn "secret chess opening" which is good for just one game? 1. d4 e6 2. c4 f5 3. g3 Nf6 4. Bg2 d5 5. Nf3 c6 6. O-O Bd6 7. Ne5 (7. b3 Qe7 8. Bb2 b6 9. Ne5 Bb7 10. Nd2 O-O 11. Rc1 Rd8) (7. Bf4 Bxf4 8. gxf4 Nbd7 9. Nbd2 Ne4 10. e3 O-O 11. Rc1 Qe7 12. Qc2 Kh8) 7... Nbd7 8. cxd5 (8. Bf4 Be7 9. Nd2 Nxe5 10. Bxe5 O-O) 8... exd5 9. Nd3 h5 *

@brandonbuckmaster3077
@brandonbuckmaster3077 Ай бұрын
Simon chooses that specific move order to avoid dangerous sidelines like the Hopton, Staunton, Raphael, etc. He's mentioned this in some of his speedruns. But not only that, Simon grew up with his dad teaching him the french defense. So even if they play the french, Simon is quite comfortable and at home playing it. So this move order is a good way to reduce memorizing theory and guarantees you a comfortable game that you'll know the plans for.
