I like Black's position as well after sacrificing the 4 pawns for the piece at 24:20 -- it reminds me of positions in the Panteldakis Countergambit in the King's Gambit 1. e4 e5 2. f4 f5 (with an extra piece ha ha). However, I'd like to know what we're supposed to plan on doing if they play e5 next. That seems pretty rough for Black potentially, as it doesn't allow us to hit the queen with the bishop.

I really like this because it looks so wrong and yet people get crushed by it. I play it in fast time controls and of course I get instantly the advantage of taking them out of book. We just push pawns at them and they have to scramble to figure out what the heck is going on and what in unholy hell they will do about this garbage that obviously should lose

Second game looks like its from the 19th century. Hey Mr. Perunovic. Yours is my favorite chess channel. I've been having good results with the Cunningham defense against King's gambit (1800s chess.com). I feel it's the only opening where I'm allowed to not be on the defense all game. Are there other systems for black that allow him to counterattack, and is the Cunningham such an opening or is it just my opponents playing poorly when I use it?

After king's gambit accepted and Nf3, black plays Be7 to actually threaten the check on h4. I've seen white do Bc4, Nc3 or d4

@El Libertoso , you are assuming limited options for White in general… they are actually follow-up to Black playing g5 to defend its pawn at f4, after White plays Nf3 to prevent Black queen coming up to h4. But if Black decides to play Be7, White can choose to defend h4 against that double attack. I am no grandmaster, but if I was faced with this option, I would play g3. And after fxg3 and hxg3, Black defends h4 thrice with g3 pawn, knight and rook, making White’s idea of attacking h4 worthless. Secondly, White king would never be checkmated even in the absence of any defender of h4. It can simply escape to f2, losing its castling right which is not the worst thing in the world.

Similar is 1. d4 Nf6 2. g4 and I'm trying to learn about this surprise weapon from white but it seems much harder to make to work because black can play d6 and e5. Why is that so much stronger than when black attempts g5?

Are most of your videos about blitz? I really want to break out the fromm and herestrom etc gambits in classical. I play the Knights Tango and Nimzowitsch so I already play offbeat stuff....but these seem like you are more geared towards blitz when you discuss these crazy lines

Lol, it was meant to be for another guy, sorry! I really apologize, another guy sent me something stupid. Anyways, I wouldn’t play 1...g5 vs Reti, 2...h6 in Sicilian, 2.Kf2 King’s gambit, but From’s gambit works great in classical as well as most of the things on the channel, although, it depends on the video. Feel free to ask me whenever you have doubts!

If this was such a good opening, why didn't anyone play it against Smyslov, Petrosian or Karpov after they opened 1. Nf3? The reason is that FIDE likely would have revoked their title, if they had one :)
