I actually reached this system on my own by combining different elements of anti-english setups (Bb4 and what not), I didn't realise how effective of a line it was I came to until I saw the move order in this video. Just what i needed. You're the channel that we don't deserve but we need. For the first time in 9 years, I feel like I'm really improving

@@MiodragPerunovicOfficial I wait for g3 before playing Nc6, I don't like to face the Botvinnik. You can play Bc5 and wait for g3 (Hao uses this move order, and he is an English expert); if they play some central pawn moves like d3 or e3 there are improved systems for black with c6-d5 or Nf6-d5. So basically you can learn the Kramnik-Shirov Counterattack instead of the Four Knights (i.e. Botvinnik).
@MiodragPerunovicOfficial

Wait a sec, what if 1.c4 e5 2. Nc3 (2. g3 Nc6 followed by Bc5) play Nc6 there and what if 3.Nf3? I have to go into four knights
@dangoldbach1232
@dangoldbach1232 4 жыл бұрын
@@MiodragPerunovicOfficial 1. c4 e5 2. Nc3 then 2...Bb4 (3. Nf3?! Bxc3) avoiding 4 knights, so then we are considering 1. c4 e5 2. g3 Nc6. 3. Nc3 Bc5 4. Nf3 d6 will transpose, noting that 5. Na4? trying to hit the bishop before it has a7 escape is a mistake after 5...e4! - the complications are near-winning for black. If 3. Nc3 Bc5 4. Bg2 then 4...a6 transposes to this system.

*What happens if White plays e3 as early as possible followed by Nf3? Can't they force the d4 break in with an advantage? That's why always thought the ...Bc5 for Black is premature for the same reason that Bc4 isn't good for White in many Sicilian lines.
@timmcgrew515
@timmcgrew515 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly which line are you looking at? 1.c4 e5 2.g3 Nc6 3.Bg2 Bc5 4.e3 is most simply dealt with by 4...Nf6 5.Nc3 d5 6.cxd5 Nb4.
@dangoldbach1232
@dangoldbach1232 4 жыл бұрын
What do you recommend for 1. c4 e5 2. g3 Nc6 3. Nc3 Bc5 4. Bg2 a6 5. Nf3 d6 6. O-O Nge7 7. e3 Ba7 8. d4 exd4 9. Nxd4? Can't play 9...Nxd4 10. exd4 Nf5 because of Re1+ so 9...Nxd4 10. exd4 O-O 11. b3 (not Be3, in particular) Nf5 12. Ne2. What is your suggestion for this one? The exchange sac idea doesn't have enough bite with a pair of knights already off. My engine is recommending some Rb8+quick b5 stuff, but my computer is old and slow haha
@timmcgrew515
@timmcgrew515 3 жыл бұрын
You might try 8...Bg4 instead of 8...exd4. The critical line is probably 8...Bg4 9.Qf6 Bxf3 10.Bxf3 exd4 11.Qxb7 0-0!? 12.Bxc6 Nxc6 13.Qxc6 dxc3 14.bxc3 Bc5 with a messy position where I'm not sure I trust the computer's evaluation of the dodgy White pawn structure. At 39 ply, SF13 tones the evaluation down to +0.3, which may be within your tolerances, though YMMV. Something to experiment with, anyway. (Just an NM here ...)

That is not a problem! Take on d4 by knight and after ed4, play 0-0, Nf5 and Rb8 (to defend on b7, threaten b5 afterwards), Black has flexible and absolutely fine position! There were few 2700 GMs who went on with that plan and had no problems at all!
