Ba3 is effective against the Stonewall with Bd6, but in this setup Be7-Bf6 is a nice maneuver against a Kingside Fianchetto.

One of the best treatments of how the stonewall can crush the Catalan. Those players hate being attacked like their simple plan and edge, then Rapport shows them the problems with their kingside using space. Amazing video and thank you Butcher for always pushing new and exciting ideas!

I've grown with the catalan as a chess player and strived to find creative ways to use my pawns, like h4 h5, c5 as in the Qb6 london endgames, and in these situations I often find myself playing f3.

Then hype it with trash talk and cool intros like a boxing match and advertise it on both channels. It would be like Tal vs Botvinnik but with cool movie like intros and get the other channels like Chess Bro, Botez sisters, Cramling, Eric Rosen etc to hype it up so everybody will know to watch! Think it would be history in the making. But make it over the board with Simon Williams and Dany Rench giving commentary. I haaaaaave a dream!

+1. whatever dutch system that Coach Mio recommends. A lot of Dutch instructionals are a bit haphazard.

Is it possible to achieve these positions if White delays Nf3 and instead plays Nc3? It would seem White’s control of e4 prevents Ne4-f5. Sorry for the late comment, only just thought of this now.

Thanks for the quick reply, okay I'll try it out in the tournament I am playing in November and let you know how much I butchered my opponent! :D
@ajcdpeАй бұрын
So I have a tournament in November that I want to win badly. Here is my situation: I open with e4 but I am not confident in playing against the theory heavy sicilian, e5 and those weird moves which make you uncomfortable like g6,b6 the pirc etc. I can either try and learn all of these in 1 and a half months, but I don't think it would help me very much as the opening is over quickly and I haven't spent the time improving my actual game. Instead, I think this approach is better: I play 1.f4 and aim for a reverse dutch to reduce the theory I need to study. I can study the dutch in depth over this time and all the middlegame plans, so I can play with white and vs 1.d4 with lots of confidence. What do you think?

No, without g3, Bf8 belongs to d6 in the stonewall. The point of Be7, to compare with Bd6, that you can more easily challenge the Bf4-variations. Funny is, that in some of the Be7 variations you play then Bd6, because d6 is the natural placement for the bishop in this pawnstructure
@lioneldavis5580 Жыл бұрын
why are u callin this ultramodern?
@MiodragPerunovicOfficial Жыл бұрын
Because of Be7 and Ne4 and mainly attacks by Black without castling, usually traditional set up was way less ambitious!
