Nihal ran out of mental and physical stamina during the final few matches. That caused him to lose his final two matches against lower rated players and he drew other matches on the last day. Had he won those matches that he lost due to fatigue, or had even drawn them, he would have finished in top ten.

It's an excuse. You think other players were at top shape & form after 18/19 rounds? Arjun/Pragg also ran out of steam. Even Magnus ran out of steam so he started forcing draws.

@@redeyexxx1841, this is my observation based on closely following the entire tournament live. He also faced harassment where he was asked to give urine sample not once or twice but thrice for drug test that took over three hours. He could have used this time to rest and recover.
