Hans was too focused on beating Nihal either by queening his pawn and or beating Nihal on time, so he rushed in the last move and didn’t assume Nihal will counter attack. Classic lesson for chess learners on how you need to focus on opponents threats simultaneously while you carry on with your strategy. ❤

Nihal has truly been one of my favourite Indian players. Even though he’s lower rated than most of the top guys who get the limelight, I remember a few years ago when he was an up and coming blitz specialist. I believe Nihal to be the next Naroditsky type player - a very talented classical player but maybe not in the top leagues but a monster at blitz / bullet. Great game!

Really b6 was the losing move at 8:34 since White could still play Rd2 instead as you earlier suggested. Then ...Rgg3, and Kh1 defends since ...R:h3+, gh, R:h3+ and White has Rh2. Overall a very nasty trap.
