First game is very instructive. I think a lot of ppl are frequently in a situation where they could deliver the Greek gift without realizing it and mindlessly playing a different move. Great stuff Aman :)

been loving the english, took me from 1600s to 1800s in every format and I finally broke the 2000s ceiling in bullet with this opening!! cheers aman!

Nope. It was absolutely perfect. I almost thought he was singing along, and then I remembered that this music is added after the stream.

Never tried the English opening before, but I have to say this speedrun and Eric's hippo are on par with the London and Bullet speedruns. Definitely gonna start practicing this opening. Just class chess against every opponent. Oh yeah bud! Keep 'em comin buddyguypal!!

Worth the breakdown on the Greek Gift alone. I'm learning that and have had success and failures, and you perfectly described the reasons I have failed.

2:50 Yeah, more likely than not. In one of Eric's no castle speedrun games, his opponent was able to defend against the greek gift even with those things being true!

I switched from London to English and immediately got 150pts because my opponents are just way less familiar and its so much easier to challenge the center.

9:34 Bxd5, c6, Bf7# would have won the queen, though c6 is by no means forced.

i'll never be able to understand why players of this same rating range i play against daily never play openings like the ones aman regularly sees. it's so bizarre

Anglo scandi is popular just because scandi players at low to mid rating believe they can approach it the same way as regular scandi. At that rating range, based on the lichess player database stats, they are correct. English players are not punishing them. Much the same reason Bowdler attack against Sicilian sticks around as a popular choice up to least 1700.

Lmao. Last guy is currently 800 rapid. And he had 86% accuracy for a 60 move game against a GM. Yeah okay.
