Eric, I wanted to thank you and Aman! Your speed runs are awesome, taking me from about 1250 to 1601 today. I’ve been playing the Caro Kann pretty exclusively and as White I’ve been largely staying with the Colle system because my percentages of wins there are higher than my other openings, (53%), even though it’s somewhat tamer than other White openings. But I follow all of your speed runs, including the Bird opening, the Dutch opening, the Stonewall. They’re all just terrific and I really appreciate your skill level and willingness to teach us beginners the ropes. Thanks again so much.!

20:24. Could ke4 be a move for white? To either trade queens or open up an escape for whites queen?
@hood954
@hood954 6 ай бұрын
I thought so too, but then there's Qe5 and white aqueen is still trapped. You'd have to sac material in order to save the Queen, at least the knight if not both knight and rook. Position is losing either way

Thanks for the quality of this series. I seriously improved my games with the black pieces and now I really enjoy playing the Caro. Which opening should you suggest with white to a 900 elo player as me? Keep up the good job Eric!

fried liver & ruy lopez, these 2 has helped me climb from 800 to 1200 easy you can try these 2 , if they don't fall for traps you have solid structure and development most importantly 900s play e5 vs e4 almost most of the time so makes sense to study a little bit
@nat-moody

forget traps just play solid chess eg scotch with e4 or queens gambit with d4

@@nat-moody nothing wrong with studying traps in my opinion, if it helps climb elo why not? also you don't fall for others as well.

I've been playing c6 against everything (when I play black) for about a year or so. It's an easy and effective way to equalize without learning a lot of theory. He makes it look pretty easy, but there are some insidious lines that you have to watch out for from white sometimes.
