I remember this game very well. Must've been an ecstatic feeling to really just outplay one of the best players on modern chess history with the Black pieces.

I liked your game description. We get to see how in depth a preparation can be. I also liked the short behind the scene clips! For someone like me who never entered a chess tournament, those clips are pretty cool!

I watched this game on youtube a few years ago. I subed to chessbrah right after. After Shirov was fire on board. To fly to Rekjivick and beat Shirov is the stuff of legends. You da man Aman. Keep up the comedy too.

Beating Shankland at the 2022 World Rapid has to be up there too, right? Just given your focus recently on streaming (and boxing!), as opposed to 2017 where you were in full GM-title mode. Great vid btw - super instructive in terms of understanding GM-level prep and analysis.

Аман - самый сильный шахматист. Если не сможет выиграть у соперника, то побьёт его на боксёрском ринге Aman is the strongest chess player. If he can’t beat his opponent, he will beat him in the boxing ring

Did Ivanisevic include this game (a positional masterpiece as far as I'm concerned) in the update? If not, it's a bigger shame than Simon's contempt for your 28th :) Also, I found your insights into prep, study, and the process of getting the final norm fascinating. Do you have other vids/vlogs detailing progression (game analysis, politics, mechanics etc) from mortal -> IM -> GM?

I feel like the format of "chess youtuber talking to the camera uninterrupted for half an hour" has led to some really lazy production. Like come on, at 5:58 do you really want me to get up close to my screen and squint to see that position and the variations? iPhone cam scanner apps are free.

Peak rating of 2755, peak ranking number 2 in the world and even to this date in his age he is still capable of crossing 2700 (was over 2700 a couple of months ago). So how do you define a Super GM?

With Shirov we're talking about a guy who beat Kramnik to face Gary Kasparov in the classical world championship - only it never went ahead because of poor sponsorship. Kasparov was still beating super GM's in his late fifties proving that chess is a sport in which age plays less of a factor in decline. At the time of this game Shirov was 44/45. Beating him was an unbelievable achievment for a young guy who wasn't even a grandmaster.
@rbarreira2 Жыл бұрын
Even to this day Shirov's rating is not that far from his peak, it's within 90 points. So I don't know what you think you're saying.
