I once met Aman as he was running shirtless in the rain. He stopped and gave me $100 and saved my friends cat from a tree. Seemed like a good guy.

I'm excited for this English speedrun, and I'll watch all the episodes. I really like the off-beat nature of this opening, and seeing someone good like you open with it over and over is really helpful and teaching me a lot. And you're funny and fun too. I've already casually tried this opening 3 times because of these 2 episodes, and plan to play it a lot more. Hope you show the French games you were playing as black at some point, would love to be walked through that too. Eric's Hippo series is great too, going to watch all those.

Keep loving this series. I've been playing 1C4 religiously ever since Yasser's old lessons on the opening from back in the day. It's such a strong opening, and so much fun to play.

I ran the position at 3:45 through the engine, and Qd5 was the top engine move. That being said, the evaluation was merely equal, not "completely winning" as Lucas claimed. To make matters worse the follow up Qxh1 was indeed a huge blunder, taking the evaluation from 0 to +10.5.

Would be cool to see you play some of the Simon Williams/Botvinnik lines, they're great fun and really confusing for a lot of opponents. Eg c4 Nf6, Nc3 g6, g3 bg7, bg2 d6, e4 O-O, Nge2 e5, O-O Be6, d3... is a line I get cheap wins out of because Black ends up really cramped, doesn't know how to open up the position and blunders something. You can also sometimes get a nice attack later on (in a kind of reverse KID style) with the f4 break and ...exf4, gxf4.

English opening ....i think it is one of the most complex opening.....similar to catalan opening ....very complex and diverse ideas exsists ....if one wants to up ones game it can be tried ....but in hands of rating less than 1500 ...its tuff to handle for the lads

It doesn't have to be. There are certain lines to avoid for sure but you can play it fairly simply in a way that doesn't get too complicated. It did take me the better part of two years to get completely comfortable with how the Botvinnik setup is supposed to work.
@billjones8950
@billjones8950 Жыл бұрын
@@stoutlager6325 but the fact you spent 2 years learning a setup is the point. No one is gonna learn this opening in a few days. It takes a long time. In order to know why a move is bad you really have to try it.

This opening is destroying these 900’s. Aman’s GM board vision doesn’t hurt either. But this opening seems to KO more than the other speed runs.
@stoutlager6325
@stoutlager6325 Жыл бұрын
That's part lack of familiarity with it at this rating, the fact that ordinary development doesn't quite work against the english, and people are readily playing e5 which leads straight to the sharpest lines. If there is anything I will say to beginners and intermediates who are fuzzy on how to play against the english, don't go e5 and enter the reverse sicilian. Not without looking at some lines ahead of time to get an idea what you're supposed to do.

I face the Anglo-Scandinavian Defense line a fair bit against the English. At first, I just assumed my opponent blitzed out their usual opening or had a sudden onset of dyslexia, probably the latter… nonetheless, I’m pretty sure they learned it from GothamChess.

Many a night ago, I took a trip to Las Vegas with some close buddies for my bachelor party. We were having a blast, smoking cigars and drinking Blue Moons, and I had about $120 left of my gambling money. I decided, what the heck, let's go all in, and I played a hand of blackjack. And I won. And I won again. I won $15,000 dollars that night. On my way out of the casino, about 3am, I see Aman. I was shocked and giddy, as one of his biggest fans, I said "What's up Aman!!!". He replied, "That was a cheeky night, huh buddy?", and congratulated me on the way out. Aman and his crew followed me to my Airbnb, stole all my winnings, left a note saying, "You should have looked for better", and then got married to my fiancee. Don't support these guys.

It felt like that loafes guy was cheating. He had the top engine move all game and plays the english 5% of all of his games. He has no plan, all his moves are just perfect. connected pawns pushed 1 step on every alternating file? what? nobody plays like this.
